LOST is seeking an experienced and dedicated Animal Production Unit Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations of our animal production unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of animal husbandry, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, health, and safety. This role requires strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of animal production, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning and Coordination:
Develop and implement production schedules that align with demand forecasts and operational goals. Monitor animal growth and production rates to ensure targets are met.

Animal Health and Welfare:
Oversee the health and well-being of all animals within the unit. Ensure that animals are properly fed, housed, and cared for according to best practices and regulatory standards. Coordinate with veterinarians and other specialists as needed.

Resource Management:
Manage the allocation and use of resources, including feed, medication, equipment, and labor, to optimize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Team Leadership:
Supervise and support animal care staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations. Foster a positive work environment and address any personnel issues promptly.

Quality Control:
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that animal products meet or exceed industry standards. Regularly assess animal health, product quality, and production processes.

Inventory and Supply Management:
Monitor inventory levels of feed, supplements, and other necessary supplies. Ensure timely procurement and proper storage of all materials to prevent shortages or spoilage.

Data Collection and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and report on production data, including growth rates, feed conversion ratios, and overall productivity. Prepare regular reports for senior management.

Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and animals.

Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in production processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency, animal welfare, and product quality. Stay informed about industry trends, innovations, and best practices.

Stakeholder Communication:
Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations. Maintain communication with suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry, or a related field.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in animal production or a related role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of animal husbandry practices, health, and welfare standards.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with production management software and tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in sustainable or organic animal production practices.
  • Knowledge of animal nutrition and disease management.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, particularly English and Arabic.

Work Environment:

  • This position may involve working in outdoor or farm environments with exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required to meet production needs.
