About Maarouf Saad Social & Cultural Foundation (MSSCF):

The Maarouf Saad Social & Cultural Foundation was founded in 1978 and registered in 1980 - as an independent Lebanese non-governmental organization (NGO). The Maarouf Saad Social and Cultural Foundation (MSSCF) was founded to provide educational, health, and social services to all under-privileged communities. Operating without discrimination and with special attention to vulnerable groups, the organization strives to spread human and citizenship rights awareness within the communities it services. Also, MSSCF is running two primary healthcare units, one community out-reach center, and a Rescue Department Unit.

MSSCF creates social, educational, and health development programs in partnership with the local community, encouraging their participation through initiatives tailored to their needs; these include topics on healthcare, community awareness and social assistance programs, as well as children's extracurricular activities.

  1. Responsibilities of the Psychologist:
  • Follow up children and adolescents with mental health needs.
  • Follow up cases upon receiving referral from specialists, doctors, and colleagues at the center, review Patients medical history and asses their condition and needs using standardized and validated tools. Assessing cases development and levels to identify the appropriate therapy.
  • Writing assessment reports for cases in a monthly report handled to the Projects' Director.
  • Develop a treatment plan with specific goals and tasks that will help them meet those goals.
  • Coordinate with the center supervisor when the case needed multidisciplinary intervention as needed, to develop intervention plan with the family or to be referred to other centers.
  • Collaborate with all the staff and specialists who are also taking role in the intervention plan of the same case.
  • Follow up various cases reported.
  • Oversee and treating various conditions which fall within domain of Psychologist.
  • Ensure promoting participation of parents in sessions (observation, training and practicing)
  • Writing and maintaining confidential case notes, reports, and session’s logs
  • Participate in team meetings with the supervisor and other team members, presenting review, treatment plans, challenges, assessments, and new children’s presentations
  • Maintain contact with social workers to update on any changes in schedules
  • Work under supervision of the Projects' Director responsible for the weekly functioning of the center and the follow-up of the overall progress of the project
  • Follow up Lebanese University students who are trainees at the community center, in coordination with the Projects' Director.

 

 

Person specifications

  • Candidates must have the appropriate skills and training using proven quality and safety methods which underpins the delivery of a mental health service.
  • Licensed Psychologists - Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and at least two years experience at the domain, experience in Child Protection or MHPSS programs, and any other continuing professional development is an advantage.

  • Communication skills:  Be able to effectively relay instructions and communicate verbally and in writing with all stakeholders taking part in case care, be able to listen to case and caregivers to help meet their needs.
  • Compassion and patience:   with the ability to motivate cases.  Be able to help them and caregivers and setting realistic and achievable goals, encouraging, creative and flexible, without discouraging them. 
  • Analytical thinking skills: Be able to have a variety of validated treatment methods from which to choose and make informed decisions about what might be best for a case.
  • Good computer skills for detailed record-keeping and familiarity with assistive technology devices
  • Flexible and responsive to program challenges.
