Project Background:

The foreseen project first examines the underlying structural inequities & barriers that hinder women effective participation in trade unions decision making bodies and committees, implementing community sensitization and mobilization targeted interventions aiming at raising awareness on the importance role of women leadership participation in unions decision-making bodies, specifically affiliated women members in four  syndicates and trade unions, enhance women knowledge and legal literacy on decent work, Lebanese  labor law and legislation and democratic trade union standards, building the capacity of women potential candidates on networking and building a supportive base, developing the demands program and carrying out an election and media campaigns.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Women Union Activist Panelist will be integral in leading 24 regional seminars across 8 governorates designed to empower and mobilize 200 women affiliated members from four syndicates and trade unions. The panelist will co-lead seminars and panel discussions, bringing firsthand experience and inspiration to participants.

Key responsibilities:

  • - Co-lead 24 regional seminars, each 3 hours long, focusing on women’s rights and roles in the trade union movement.
  • - Facilitate discussions on creating women committees within unions and the significance of women’s leadership.
  • - Share personal experiences and stories as a union activist to motivate and inspire participants.
  • - Provide insights on grassroots mobilization, community engagement, and strategies for increasing women’s influence in unions.
  • - Prepare presentations and materials if required.
  • - Collect participant feedback to assess the impact of the seminars and identify areas for improvement.
  • - Coordinate with organizers for agenda and schedule.
  • - Network with other panelists and attendees.
  • - Prepare a report on the effectiveness of the seminars and provide recommendations for future initiatives to support women in unions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • - Proven experience as a women union activist or leader within trade unions.
  • - Strong background in advocating for women's rights and participation in unions.
  • - Excellent communication and storytelling skills to connect with and inspire seminar participants.
  • - Ability to facilitate open and engaging discussions on sensitive and important topics.
  • - Deep commitment to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in the trade union movement.
