Terre des hommes - Foundation (Lausanne) is seeking a qualified GBV PSS Facilitator based in Jezzine Area or Surroundings for its UNFPA project “Improved protection environment for Lebanese and Refugees girls and women exposed to Gender-Based Violence in Jezzine”.

The GBV PSS Facilitator has the knowledge and practical skills to carry out focused psychosocial support activities with adolescent girls and women at high risk of GBV or and child marriage. GBV-focused PSS activities will be carried out in line with individual organization and interagency guidelines.

This position intends to build the resilience of adolescent girls and women at child marriage risk through psychosocial support activities. The GBV PSS facilitator implements the activities in a manner that leaves a considerable positive impact on adolescent girls and women at GBV and child marriage risk and promotes their wellbeing.

Aims of the position are to:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate psychosocial activities for adolescent girls and women.
  • Strengthening and improving the resilience and well-being of adolescent girls and women at risk.
  • Ensure that all beneficiaries participate in activities that are non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate.
  • Ensure that parents and caregivers receive frequent feedback about their adolescent girls and women’s participation during the sessions.
  • Work directly with GBV team members to develop interventions, plans and follow-ups.
  • Ensure that the adolescent girls and women feel safe, comfortable, and respected all the time,

Under the management of the Project Manager, the GBV PSS Facilitator will perform the following tasks:

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Planning and Implementation of Activities:

  • Support the outreach teams in mapping and assessing adolescent girls at child marriage risk and in need to attend PSS activities.
  • Assess the main similar needs/issues faced by the targeted community group of adolescent girls and women.
  • Register and enroll adolescent girls and women at child marriage risk in focused psychosocial support activities.
  • Plan, organize, and run activities with the target group while facilitating and encouraging the participation of all groups.
  • Develop an action plan of PSS activities, topics and other types of interventions with the group based on a “Group intervention approach”.
  • Ensure activities run in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
  • Implement these sessions on a periodical manner and evaluate each session with the adolescent girls and women as well as with the project coordinator.
  • Revise sessions according to each feedback/evaluation and constantly adapt approaches and exercises.
  • Deal with difficult behaviors (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) and understand the reason behind the behavior to positively communicate with the situation.
  • Ensure adolescent girls and women under her responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities.
  • Promote and ensure adolescent girls and women participation in all activities.
  • Ensure that all activities are done in an appropriate location- safe space in line with the centered survivor approach.
  • Document all necessary feedback and provide regular monitoring reports to the project manager on the progress of adolescent girls and women.
  • Ensure that caregivers receive regular feedback and advice on their adolescent girls' progress and interaction when relevant.
  • Ensure that all adolescent girls and women (beneficiaries can be as well) and caregivers are aware of Tdh accountability/ complaint mechanism.
  • Establish or support the establishment of safe spaces.
  • Provide information about progress when required.
  • Report and support the constant evaluation process about the impact of activities on adolescent girls and women.
  • Ensure a daily proper recording of data (# of adolescent girls, women, and adults participating, activities delivered, etc).
  • Establish a calendar/agenda for intervention for each group of adolescent girls/women concerned.
  • Be able to identify adolescent girls- women at child marriage risk of harm or being harmed and being able to refer them as per the Tdh procedures.
  • Verify the beneficiaries list and presence.
  • Contribute to spreading the messages to the community and beneficiaries (be able to orient and support beneficiaries on services available in the mapping of services and establish positive relationships with beneficiaries).
  • Attend weekly, monthly, and urgent meetings with the team.
  • Be able to provide a correct use of guidelines, tools, material, and games once agreed with the technical team.
  • Ensure effective engagement of adolescent girls and women with disabilities in the PSS activities
  • Set up the different activities connected with the community programs.
  • Plan and identify materials and any kind of support required for every intervention on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure that the beneficiaries who need specific medical or nutritional care are referred to the appropriate organization.
  • Assist in the development of new PSS methodologies or/and new PSS M&E tools.
  • Review and adjust PSS tools to make sure the relevant, accurate and up-to-date information is always presented in accordance to Tdh and the Inter Agency guidelines.
  • Suggest modifications of sessions and exercises in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment, based on the feedback of the adolescent girls, women, and caregivers.
  • Represent Tdh in relevant GBV- MHPSS training and in the field visits at sites of intervention with donors and line managers.
  • Participate in the advocacy and campaign required from Tdh such as gender-based violence and child marriage etc.

Reporting:

  • Regularly provide field reports, protection monitoring reports, and reports related to project progress to your line manager.
  • Assist in analyzing the data collected and reports both quantitatively and qualitatively.
  • Provide information about progress when required.
  • Report and support the constant evaluation process about the impact of activities on adolescent girls and women.
  • Ensure a daily proper recording of data (# of adolescent girls, women and adults participating, activities delivered, etc).
  • Provide official and on-time report for any security and safety incidents.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Keep close coordination and update with the caseworkers and the psychologist.
  • Contribute to creating a positive atmosphere by interacting constructively with colleagues and adolescent girls women and caregivers
  • Communicate efficiently with the technical team and managers conveying to them ideas and new proposals according to daily observation in dealing with adolescent girls and women.
  • Participate in donor visits and promote proper preparation and implementation.
  • Communicate with the stakeholders, partners, and municipalities through regular visits.

Organisational Policies:

  • Respects the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring it’s the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy;
  • Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.
  • Participate actively in weekly and monthly coordination meeting with the line managers.
  • Ensure Do No Harm analysis are carried out and the principle of Do No Harm is observed and upheld in all the engagements of the PSS Facilitator

Job Requirements:

Academic Background:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or other relevant degree.

Experience:

At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably GBV, MHPSS Intervention.

Technical Competencies:

  • Good knowledge in GBV.
  • Able to deal with adolescent girls from different backgrounds
  • Facilitation skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure (responding to high-risk cases)
  • Respect for institutional framework.
