The MEAL Assistant will be assisting the MEAL team in Lebanon and Syria in collecting data for surveys/FGDs/KIIs and documenting of monitoring and evaluation information. S/he will assist in the data collection, analysis, report writing, and learning activities to help ensure accountability, quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and relevance from start to finish for all programs and projects.  S/he will conduct regular monitoring field visits to the projects’ sites.

S/he will be reporting to the Senior MEAL Officer.

Main Tasks

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Conduct data collection for surveys/FGDs/KIIs on field.
  • Assist field teams in clarifying project information needs.
  • Support in verifying supporting documents for projects.
  • Perform regular monitoring field visits to projects’ sites to ensure the quality of data collected by field teams and to verify the accuracy of reported data.
  • Participate into drafting preliminary findings through data analysis and first draft of monitoring and evaluation reports. Respect schedules and deadlines agreed upon with his/her line Manager.
  • Support in strengthening staff and partner capacity for quality implementation of MEAL systems. Provide trainings in MEAL – related topics.

Data Management:

  • Support MEAL Team in drafting questionnaires and questions guide and other data collection tools.
  • Provide methodological support to the field teams to ensure timely and high-quality data entry and processing.

Reporting / Communication / Representation:

  • Draw up and submit a weekly task report to his/her line Manager.
  • Support in editing reports sent by the partners/field team before sending it to his/her line Manager.
  • Represent Dorcas/Tabitha when asked to do so.
  • Ensure that tools and files are properly archived and secured.
  • Participate into learning workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree
  • Preferably 1 year of MEAL experience.
  • NGO working experience is a plus
  • Able to work across departments to both ensure and follow-up on projects progress.
  • Knowledge in data collection tools and statistical software.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability with a high sense of humanitarian work.
