Protection Officer

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement strategies to promote the safety and dignity of beneficiaries, with a focus on vulnerable groups including women and children.
• Monitor and report on human rights and protection issues, as well as international humanitarian law violations in project areas.
• Coordinate with other departments to mainstream protection across all activities and services provided by the project.
• Conduct field visits to assess risks and to ensure that the needs of the most vulnerable are being met.
• Provide technical guidance on protection principles and standards to project staff and partners.
• Establish and maintain networks with local communities, NGOs, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen protection outcomes.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation on protection concerns, interventions, and outcomes.
• Advocate for and contribute to policies and procedures that enhance the safety and protection of beneficiaries.
• Manage sensitive protection data with strict confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
Requirements:
• At least a Bachelor’s degree in human rights, social sciences, international law, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of proven experience in protection work, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
• In-depth understanding of protection principles, gender issues, and human rights.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize protection concerns.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in engaging with beneficiaries and stakeholders from various cultural backgrounds.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong reporting and presentation skills.
• Experience in conducting assessments, monitoring, and evaluation in the context of protection.
• Demonstrated commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of beneficiaries, promoting gender equality, social inclusion, and community resilience.
