The tasks and responsibilities of the CP Officer are as follows:

  1. School Visits and Coaching:
    • Visit the schools on daily basis to coach the school staff in applying CP and PSS skills and approaches.
    • Train and support school child protection focal points in implementing PSS activities, ensuring proper planning, prioritization, evaluation and providing improvement considerations.
    • Equip school child protection focal points with necessary capacity to respond to parents’ requests/needs regarding their children’s behavior and services.
    • Ensure the creation of a safe and supportive atmosphere at schools for beneficiaries including children and their caregivers.

 

  1. Case Management and Referral:
    • Support and coach the school child protection focal points in the process of confirming and referring the cases.
    • Manage referral once received from the school child protection focal points in a secure, efficient, and accountable manner, including using RIMS for external referrals.
    • Support the targeted schools in establishing clear inter-sectoral referral pathways to effectively respond to the various needs of the children.

 

  1. Collaboration and Networking:
    • Collaborate with AVSI CP specialist to report and address alarming behaviors in children
    • Work closely with all Child Protection partners and actors to ensure proper referral pathways in the area of intervention.
    • Build a network with all actors working around implementation gateways in close collaboration with AVSI community engagement officers.
    • Collaborate with school directors and ensure regular and transparent communication in addressing CP related concerns.

 

 

 

  1. Meeting Facilitation and Reporting:
    • Organize regular meetings with the school CP focal points to share lessons learned and ensure a systematic exchange of experiences in terms of CP and ensuring safety and security towards children.
    • Submit a weekly report of CP activities conducted in the targeted schools.
    • Address and report any violations related to child safeguarding/protection in an appropriate way to concerned persons.
    • Provide bi-weekly reports to the CP specialist, highlighting project progress, challenges, and proposed solutions.

 

  1. Capacity Building and Compliance:
    • Conduct orientation sessions for school CP focal points at the beginning of the program, and provide continuous support, constructive communication and feedback sharing.
    • Support the school focal points and the school CP focal points in designing and facilitating activities for caregivers, including informative/awareness sessions, aiming at increasing their CP knowledge and practices with their children.
    • Support AVSI CP specialist in providing capacity building for all school staff and service providers on child safeguarding policy and early identification and safe referral including trainings, refresher trainings and one to one session if needed.
    • Ensure all school staff and service providers sign, are aware of and respect the conditions of AVSI Child Safeguarding policy.

 

  1. Continuous Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Ensure proper reporting mechanisms are in place for all CP related activities.
    • Continuously monitor the quality of all CP related activities conducted at school level and of the reports submitted by the school CP focal point and provide regular updates to AVSI CP specialist.
    • Work with the school IM focal point and AVSI IM focal point to ensure appropriate reporting of CP related activities on CLM
    • Work closely with AVSI accountability officer to ensure proper participatory initiatives are put in place.

 

  1. Other Responsibilities:
    • Participate actively in all mandatory trainings provided by UNICEF.
    • Participate in the weekly project meetings led by the project manager.
    • Participate in the development of technical documents, presentations, and reports and documenting achievements and lessons learned.
    • Perform other duties within areas of responsibility as requested by the supervisor.
