MISSION:

Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a non-governmental organization based in France that promotes international solidarity. Founded in 1991, SIF intends to bring relief and protect the lives of those threatened by natural disasters, armed conflicts, or economic collapse. SIF intervenes in more than 30 countries around the world through emergency relief, recovery, and development aid. It carries out operations in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.  Its goal is to help people suffering throughout the world, regardless of origin, religion, or gender.

SIF is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly motivated Advocacy Officer, to be based in the Beirut - Lebanon office, with field visits to the Tripoli office. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, update, and implement SIF’s advocacy strategy.
  • Design and deliver innovative and effective advocacy initiatives, by SIF’s advocacy strategy, and frequently in collaboration with partners.
  • Monitor and analyze the political and operational environment and identify trends and opportunities for advocacy.
  • Build and manage constructive relationships with advocacy collectives, partner NGOs in Lebanon and France, and advocacy targets.
  • Represent SIF to external advocacy stakeholders, including participation in advocacy working groups and relevant clusters and lobbying political representatives
  • Draft background briefings, fact sheets, press releases, lobby letters, opinion editorials, and substantive analytical reports.
  • Ensure coordination with the Communications, Marketing, and Programmes Departments.
  • Work closely with Programme Officers to include advocacy aspects in operational project proposals.

ESSENTIALS:

  • Knowledge of international law, especially International Humanitarian Law.
  • Understanding of institutions and policy processes in the French Government, Lebanon government, and the European Union, especially prior experience conducting advocacy for these targets.
  • Arabic and English language skills, French is an asset. 
  • Experience dealing with the media.
  • Experience in institutional fundraising and proposal writing.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management, including strategy development, project design, monitoring, and evaluation.
