About the project:

Under the project of “Improving Mental Health and Well-being of People Living in Lebanon” A consortium of three organizations, MdM, Skoun, Embrace, and the National Mental Health Program (NMHP), supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), aims to improve the opportunities for women, men, boys, girls, and gender non-compliant individuals in Lebanon to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing. The consortium aims to reach its objective by supporting community-based Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) and Substance Uses (SU) systems offering appropriate, quality, and gender-inclusive services to all people living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk while tackling gender barriers in service access and gender biases in service provision. The specific activities of the project target the different levels of the social-ecological model with activities designed and aimed at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, and community level.

Objectives/ purpose

Skoun is a Lebanese, non-profit, non-governmental organization and one of the first outpatient facilities that provide accessible treatment, education, and protection for all people who use drugs while maintaining its values regarding inclusion, accessibility, integrity, and dignity. Skoun is committed to promoting harm reduction and improving public health outcomes related to substance use. To further our mission, we are seeking a graphic designer to:

  1. Create two (2) pamphlets designs that will be used in our youth prevention department to educate young people and parents, about the risks associated with substance use, and to provide information about harm reduction strategies that can help reduce those risks.
  2. Create two (2) pamphlets designs that will be used in our outreach program to provide information about the risks associated with alcohol and drug use.
  3. Create one (1) poster design that will be used in our outreach program to raise awareness about the risks associated with substance use and STIs, and to encourage safer behaviors among our target audiences.
  4. Create one(1) rollup design for Skoun’s Safer Night Life program, English and Arabic on the same design (120 cm x 80 cm).

Scope of Work

The graphic designer we are seeking should be able to:

  1. Develop the visual concept and design for each of the deliverables (two youth prevention pamphlets, two pamphlets for outreach, one  poster and one rollup).
  2. Create original graphics and illustrations as needed to support the messaging of each deliverable with continuous follow up with Skoun’s focal point.
  3. Advise on the size and number of folds for each design depending on the content which would be shared with the graphic designer by Skoun’s focal point.
  4. Use typography, color, and other design elements to create a cohesive and visually appealing look and feel for each deliverable in alignment with Skoun identity and orientation.
  5. Ensure that all deliverables are designed to be clear, effective, and culturally appropriate for our target audiences.
  6. Amend and change unlimitedly, based on multiple reviews of the content, and deliver final design files in open file and print-ready format for each deliverable.

Deliverables

The graphic designer will be expected to deliver the following 6 items:

  1. Two (2) pamphlets for the youth prevention program, with Arabic and English languages on the same design.
  2. Two (2) pamphlets for the outreach program, with Arabic and English languages on the same design.
  3. One (1) poster, A3 size, with English and Arabic languages and a clear and impactful design that conveys the message effectively.
  4. One Roll up sized 120 cm (L) x 80 cm (w).

All deliverables must be designed with print production in mind, and final files should be provided in a format that can be easily printed by a professional printer, and easily amended after the completion of the contract by Skoun’s staff.

The graphic designer is recommended to complete the designs as soon as possible, taking into consideration the multiple reviews of each design, and amendments if required.

- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field, or equivalent work experience - A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a graphic designer, with a portfolio that demonstrates a range of skills and projects, preferably with NGOs and humanitarian field. - Experience designing materials for mental health and harm reduction is a plus. - Strong skills in typography, layout, color theory, and other design fundamentals, with the ability to create visually appealing and cohesive designs. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a team and take direction and feedback from the focal point.
