Summary and General Description:

Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for providing counseling for service users who are diagnosed with substance use disorders and/or other mental health comorbidities disorders.

The role will involve Performing a comprehensive assessment and collaborating with service users to set an individualized treatment plan that meets their needs and goals.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Perform a comprehensive assessment and collaborate with service users to set an individualized treatment plan that meets their needs and goals
  • Develop an understanding of the service user’s addiction history and possible co-morbid disorders, assess the condition and how it affects overall well-being
  • Build rapport with service users to ensure confidentiality, secure trust and openness and provide them with non-judgmental support
  • Provide service users with the treatment agreement and communication materials
  • Provide psychoeducation for service users on substance use disorders in general and their effects on physical and mental health
  • Provide counseling for service users on a regular basis on harm reduction intervention, overdose information, and prevention, case management, assistance with vocational difficulties, reducing concurrent drug use, monitoring of behavior, stress management, coping mechanisms, etc...
  • Participate in the weekly clinical meeting to discuss service users treatment plans, challenges, and goals
  • Document accurately and legibly all progress notes including but not limited to counseling sessions, therapeutic interventions, treatment plans, and other relevant information in the Client Management System
  • Fill intakes upon admission and follow up with outcome protocols
  • Discuss service users treatment progress with the Psychiatrist and with other team members
  • Meet and coordinate with the service users family and significant others when needed
  • Coordinate with the Nurses on urine test results and the service user’s sessions.
  • Refer family members to the Family Support Group and coordinate with Family therapists if needed
  • Refer service users to other addiction treatment centers or to hospitals when and if needed
  • Discharge service users based on discharge policies and procedures
  • Refer to vocational, legal, and/or health service when appropriate and needed
  • Participate in Monthly Peer supervision group and Journal Club
  • Provide individual and or group training, workshops, supervision
  • Perform other duties required by the Clinical CoordCoordination

Qualifications:

    • License to practice is a must
    • Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's in Clinical Psychology
    • Additional Addiction studies and experience are a plus
    • About 2 to 3 years of related experience in a similar position and responsibility, preferably in a similar
    • Knowledge in Psychopathology
    • Knowledge of General Addiction
    • Knowledge of Substance use disorders
    • Knowledge of Opioids Agonist Therapy
    • Knowledge of addiction counseling including drugs, gambling, and other types of addiction
    • Knowledge of ethical and legal responsibilities of addiction counseling
    • Practitioner skills in therapy (CBT, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, assessment skills)
    • Knowledge of theories and models of behavioral change.
    • Knowledge of Harm Reduction philosophy
    • Fluency in English and Arabic

    The clinical Psychologist will work closely with and report to the Clinical Coordinator as well as work closely with other members of the Clinical team.
