forumZFD Lebanon (Forum Civil Peace Service) is a German nonprofit organization working together with local partners to foster conflict transformation and sustainable peace while advocating for more just societies.  Based in Beirut since 2009, our 16 staff members are working with local partners in projects aiming to reduce tensions within four different areas/themes: Dealing with the Past, Capacity Development, Community Mobilizing and Nonviolent Communication.

 

forumZFD and a number of partners and partnering initiatives are looking to extend their team to support their work on History and Dealing with the Past (DwP) related activities, namely an Events and Outreach Consultant. The consultant may work on the needs of initiatives including but not limited to “Maabar, the podcast”, the “Forum for Memory and Future”, “Why bother with history”, the “Oral History Guide”, and other activities and organisations that forumZFD supports through their work on DwP.

The role is part-time overall, approximately 8 days per month, although the exact timings will depend on project needs and activity timelines. The general responsibilities of the role is outlined below, and for each project a set of deliverables and terms of reference will be set and agreed upon individually

 

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorming concept and implementing event plans
  • Manage logistics, incl procurements, bookings, liaising with vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate relevant staff at events, and support hiring process as/when necessary
  • Manage budgets, expenditure and invoicing
  • Liaising on communication and design, and where necessary oversee promotion through various channels
  • Support in attending relevant meetings, and partaking in relevant conferences, lectures, workshops, etc.
  • Handling post-event feedback and evaluation 

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Previous working experience as Events Management Specialist for 3+ years
  • Proven track record in successful events organization and outreach campaigns
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to priorities and handle multiple, sometimes competing tasks and projects as once
  • Exiting relations in the events and cultural scene; links to academic and educational educations are a benefit
  • Ability to coordinate complex processes, and empathetic to sensitive subject matter
  • Ability and enjoyment to work independently and take initiative
  • Interest in concepts and practices of dealing with the past
