Background: 
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation committed to political participation and democratic governance around the world. DRI is headquartered in Berlin and has country offices in Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Ukraine and works with local partners in several other countries.  
Since 2016 DRI has been raising awareness and advocating for evidence-based policies and public debates that foster democratic and accountable governance, the rule of law, and political participation in Lebanon, in cooperation with civil society organisations and public officials.  
Particularly, DRI is working to ensure the accountability and human rights compliance of public officials while strengthening their collaboration and partnership with the civil society and other relevant actors.  
DRI is currently recruiting a part-time Field Coordinator for its Country Office in Lebanon.  

YOUR TASKS

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, you will: 

1. Implementation of activities: 

  • Lead the implementation of assigned project activities including events, workshops, trainings, and brainstorming sessions; 
  • Follow up on project activities, update the project workplan accordingly, and be responsible for internal and donor reporting on relevant project outputs through writing and researching for narrative reports; 
  • Coordinate engagement and project delivery with DRI partners and stakeholders;  
  • Travel in the different regions of Lebanon to ensure sound implementation of project activities; 
  • Support monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) and Gender & Diversity mainstreaming efforts in line with DRI’s internal policies; 
  • Support project communications in the planning, development, and implementation of digital content, and outreach/advocacy activities; 
  • Monitor and report on political, social, security-related, and legal developments relevant to the project; 

2. Managing grants: 

  • Monitor, manage, and report on the implementation of small grants at the local community level in five selected regions; 
  • Review project concept notes and activity concepts to provide detailed planning for each grant; 
  • Coordinate with the Programme Manager and the Finance Unit throughout the grant planning and implementation cycle in accordance with the project budget; 
  • Perform other relevant duties as required. 

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 Required: 

  • University degree in social sciences, political science, development studies, law, or a related field; 
  • At least 5 years of experience in project coordination involving grants, fieldwork, and interacting with a complex spectrum of stakeholders; 
  • Proven experience in drafting concept notes and project proposals; 
  • Strong sense of analysis and ability to write concise reports;  
  • Strong MEL skills; 
  • Familiarity with Gender & Diversity Mainstreaming concepts; 
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a strong sense of thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency; 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, making positive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team; 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
