Megaphone is an online independent media platform. We produce explainer multimedia content that covers current affairs and social and cultural commentaries, in formats adapted for digital media.

Job Overview

Megaphone is looking for a social media publishing and distribution coordinator to handle the publication, dissemination, and promotion of our content on our website and social media platforms. The coordinator will be handling Megaphone's social media accounts and will be responsible for optimizing the reach of the content on each of these platforms. The role also entails publishing content on Megaphone's website and contributing to team efforts of archiving, community management as well as research and development of the megaphone’s online strategy.

It is preferred that applicants for this position have previous copywriting experience in Arabic and English.

Role and Responsibilities

Account Management

  • Publishing daily on all social media platforms and websites 
  • Boosting posts daily 
  • Monitoring the progress of posts

Compiling and Analyzing Data

  • Providing weekly reports on social media insights 

Community Management

  • Checking all inboxes on all platforms on a daily basis and relaying important messages to the team

Filing and Archiving

  • Archiving posts on a daily basis (Videos, articles, news, etc.)
  • Enhancing the internal archiving system

Research and Development

  • Partaking in developing a social media strategy to optimize reach and engagement on all platforms. 
  • Research and develop better techniques to be used for each specific platform

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in journalism, media studies, political studies, economics, sociology, or any other social science or humanity.
  • Previous experience in managing social media platforms
  • Good writing and speaking skills in both Arabic and English
  • Great project coordination skills
  • Experience in teamwork and working under pressure
  • Good knowledge of social media practices and industry developments 

Additional Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in a newsroom is desirable
  • Creative writing skills are a plus
  • Proficiency in Google ecosystem, Slack, Trello, and, adobe creative suite is a plus
