BASIC SUMMARY:

Objective

World Learning seeks an “Office Coordinator” to provide technical assistance to the Primary Education Directorate at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) under its Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic Education Improvement 2 (QITABI 2) program.

 

Scope

Under the oversight and guidance of the Director General of Education of the Minister of Education and QITABI 2’s COP, the Office Coordinator will focus on supporting the Director of Primary Education in all the administrative aspects of the office and primarily coordinating activities under the Learning Recovery Plan; while ensuring high levels of efficiency in administrative duties and organizational effectiveness.

This position is well suited to be an effective part of a team and much of the work to be undertaken by this position requires good management and communication skills. She/he shall work under the direct supervision of the Director of Primary Education, and shall provide timely reporting on all matters related to the duties below to the Director of Primary Education and to QITABI 2’s COP.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify priority matters that need to be addressed by the Director of Primary Education in relation to the implementation of the Learning Recovery Plan and propose actions, analyze supporting documentation and summarize the most relevant action points;
  • Coordinate QITABI 2’s activities between the Primary Education Directorate and schools to ensure smooth implementation and timely notifications of the project activities;
  • Support in providing updated data and prepare reports for the Director of Primary Education on the progress of the Learning Recovery Plan and other educational projects including the QITABI 2 project;
  • Draft responses and distribute incoming internal & external correspondence. Classify and/or archive documentation on educational projects implemented in public schools.;
  • Ensure follow-up on actions required from counterparts (Internal & External);
  • Organize and coordinate meetings and agendas, make necessary logistic arrangements, ensuring that the Director of Primary Education is prepared for meetings with relevant talking points and briefs;
  • Perform other duties related to this Job and as requested by the Director of Primary Education.

OTHER

  • The duration of this contract shall be completed within 6 months, with a Maximum of 100 working days on the basis of a maximum of 4 days per week.
  • Renewal and continuity of the consultancy agreement will depend on the performance and budget availability.
  • The duty station for the Consultant is the Ministry of Education, Lebanon for the entire duration of the contract.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Science, or any related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in national education programs.
  • Solid understanding of the public sector educational context.
  • Extensive experience in the Lebanese public sector, preferably in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is a must or in intergovernmental or non-governmental.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Fluency in Arabic, and English is highly desired.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Expected Deliverables:

  • Weekly activity reports and a comprehensive monthly Progress Report in the specific responsibilities defined in this Terms of Reference
  • End of assignment closure report” including handing over ony documentation (electronic or otherwise), assets, and deliverables belonging to MEHE.
