Summary:
The Logistics & QC Manager is a professional who is employed to supervise the handling, packaging, storage and transportation of goods for the School Snacks Project 2023. They also handle all aspects of shipping and delivery and ensure customer satisfaction by staying in contact and relaying all communications concerning the delivery. The goal is to ensure the smooth operations of a variety of channels aiming for maximum efficiency with an emphasis on food safety and quality.
Job Description:
- Coordinates with all units for timely implementation.
- Follows up with vendors e.g. delivery schedules of goods and other procurement related concerns. This includes coordinating with the vendors/service providers for the delivery and transportation of the goods for the program.
- Coordinates and monitors supply chain operations
- Supervises orders and arranges stocking of raw materials and equipment to ensure they meet needs.
- Plans and tracks the shipment of final products according to DCL Requirements
- Prepares accurate reports for the project manager
- Keeps logs and records of warehouse stock, executed orders, food safety, quality control incidents, etc.
- Ensures premises, assets, and communications are used effectively and efficiently
- Monitors and facilitates the distribution of snacks in assigned schools.
- Supervises and trains a small team of temporary quality control staff composed mainly of daily workers at supplier warehouses handling food, non-food items.
- Ensures adequate control of nonconforming products.
- Monitors cargo loading/unloading, sampling, packing/kitting, implementing solutions.
- Uses standard quality-control documents to ensure that quality checks are undertaken and that accurate findings are relayed to the office.
- Plans, coordinates and records the results of measurements, examinations and gauging of items to ensure that the minimum quality requirements are met; may personally perform measurements, etc.
- Reviews current work practices to identify areas in which the food safety/quality process could be improved and developed
- Monitors the project activities; starting from the phase of receiving supplies in the warehouse, to the preparation phase in the warehouse, the distribution of snacks to schools, and the storage of snacks in the school storage rooms, as related to food safety.
- Coordinates with the suppliers to ensure all project-related resources and supplies are available on site in a timely fashion, and are received according to the specific rules and procedures of DCL and WFP.
- Checks orders for accuracy, confirm quality, quantity and specifications and approve receipt of supplies accordingly, and reject and return unacceptable supplies.
- Maintains a filing system including delivery schedules, laboratory results (when applicable) and waybills.
- Ensures food safety and security norms and standards are applied at all stages of implementation (preparation, distribution and storage).
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; check condition and housekeeping of warehouse and/or storage rooms, pallets, supplies and delivery trucks.
- Submits regular reports on challenges and achievements as agreed with supervisor, with respecting quality and deadlines.

Qualification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (experience within an NGOs is a plus);
- Knowledge in Food Safety and Quality Control;
- Very good knowledge of the project management cycle and experience in management;
- MS proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
- Previous experience working with international NGOs, is a plus.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory.
- Must have a car and valid driving license.
Duration of Contract
- 7 months (January 2023 till July 2023)
