The Levantine Institute of Tripoli (LEVIT) is a social entreprise offering Levantine Dialect and Modern Standard Arabic programs classes in Tripoli and online with our platform www.levantineonline.com.

 

LEVIT organizes the events on the monthly basis that are open to the public as well. So in addition to the foreign students taking the Arabic courses in LEVIT, also broader public of Tripoli participates in the presentations in order to get familiar with different aspects of Lebanese society including economic, political, cultural and other topics.

 

LEVIT also runs a cultural center called Rumman where artists, musicians and citizens practice and exchange ideas and build projects in cooperation with the French Embassy in Lebanon and the Institut Français. 

 

Rumman is an independent musical and cultural space in Tripoli, Lebanon. Founded in 2021, its main aim is to support and develop the skills of local musicians and artists by offering them the space and tools to exchange ideas, thoughts, and create art together. In addition, Rumman aims to: 

- Promote the independent art scene in North by Lebanon by organizing a series of events and performances by local musicians and artists;

- Attract local, regional, and international artists through artistic residencies & performance  events in Tripoli;

- Reclaim public spaces & highlight the cultural heritage in Tripoli through artistic performances; and

- Build a sustainable relation with the local community by engaging them in Rumman's activities and making art more accessible for them.

 

Responsabilities 

 

Levantine Institute cultural events: 

- Welcome students on registration day, organize tours of the city and facilities.

- Organise monthly talks “Likaat” at the LEVIT. 

- Organise monthly student trips in Lebanon. 

- Prepare immersive activities for international students, cooking/ music/ folkloric. 

- Organise the weekly Lebanese traditional lunch at LEVIT

- Any other cultural activities related to LEVIT. 

 

Project Coordination Rumman: 

- Prepare a monthly schedule of events on the 15th of each month;

- Provide the team with regular updates on the projects and upcoming activities;

- Respond to general inquiries via email or phone;

- Responsible for managing the practice schedules of bands and musicians;

- Contact musicians, partners and venues accordingly; 

- Take initiatives, proposes new bands and events; 

- Send information to the group/ graphic designer for communication materials; 

- Set up audio/video before events take place, with the support of  event coordinator; 

- Run events for children every Saturday (with support of a trainer if needed);

- File all forms/documents/materials on drive; and

- Keep the contacts database up to date; 

 

Communication: 

- Ensure All events are online and invitations sent at least 1 week before the event;

- Run stories on social media accounts of Rumman;

- Make sure that the events are recorded  / taking pictures; and 

- Dispatching messages and adding new contacts to Adds numbers in the whatsapp groups.

 

Running The Space: 

- Making sure that Rumman is ready/ tidy when opening in the morning, tables, rooms, toilets and kitchen are clean. 

- Close and open balance in the cashier.

- Notify administration for any maintenance issues. 

- Serve drinks and receive payments. 

- Verify stocks and liaise with an accountant. 

- Purchase necessary supplies. 

- Review prices according to inflation.

 

Experience and qualifications: 

- Al least +3 years in cultural / art / music. 

- Prior experience in organizing cultural events.

- BA or Master degree in art/ graphic design/ audio-video production or related field.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate, plan and prioritise activities.

- Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills (e.g. Word/Excel).

- Proactive, innovative, and flexible with a problem-solving approach where systems can be improved.

- Determined and committed to the highest quality standards.

- Ability to integrate into an a team and establish effective working relationships with colleagues.

- Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure.

- Available afternoons and evenings, preferably living in Tripoli. 

- English advanced, French is an added value

 

Reports to Director/ Deputy Director and Rumman partners.

Working hours : 40 hours a week. Monday to Saturday. 
1 year contract. NSSF included.
Salary : 1000$ (8000 LL rate)
