Evaluation Consultancy - Play to Grow Together Project

1. Background on the organization and the project Right to Play (RTP) is a global organization committed to improving the lives of children and youth affected by conflict, disease and poverty. Established in 2000, Right to Play has pioneered unique play-based approach to learning and development which focuses on quality education, life skills, health, gender equality, child protection and building peaceful communities. In Egypt, this project will focus on developing skills and attitudes in children that have a direct link with the causes of bullying, such as teamwork, compassion, self-expression, leadership and overcoming difficulties/problem-solving. In addition, the intervention will transversally address gender issues by raising awareness on gender equality and ensuring equal participation of boys and girls in the activities. Through capacity building and mentoring, the project will create a movement of coaches that can use the power of sport and games to address social issues. The tools and resources provided to the coaches will equip and empower them to be agents of positive change in their communities. Beneficiaries reached directly: 600

2. Evaluation Objectives The evaluation aims at measuring the: - Effectiveness: contribution of the project to its outcome and outputs; - Impact: contribution to the goal: “Boys and girls are safer, more protected and able to prevent and cope with violence in their schools and communities”; - Relevance: to the needs of the targeted communities; - Sustainability: of the effects at community level.

3. Methodology and scope All data has been collected through the following quantitative and qualitative tools: - Pre-post assessment of training of coaches – quantitative - Pre-post assessment of sessions with children – quantitative - Focus group discussions with children, coaches and parents at Baseline, Midline and Endline – qualitative - Observation of implemented sessions – qualitative Anticipated number of working days for the consultancy is 15-20 days.
