Social Worker

Scope of work:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director (ED) and the Project Manager, the Social Worker shall be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of social work services that support the mission, goals and objectives of the Lebanese Association for Family Health within the agreed budget and standards.
He/She also works with the ED and the Program Officer on specific programs and training issues.
The Social Worker will be based in Beit Chama clinic (Bekaa) with field missions.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide listening, support and counseling services related to the sexual and reproductive health and case management to beneficiaries.
- Document beneficiaries’ information through accurate filling and ensure confidential and safe storage.
- Refer beneficiaries internally (to SALAMA Services Delivery Points) and/or to relevant NGOs and/or service providers when needed.
- Conduct outreach to assess the needs of the targeted population and to insure the adequate social follow up.
- Conduct working groups with the beneficiaries to assess their needs and follow-up on their benefit from the association’s programs to use results in planning for programs that meet their needs.
- Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the services delivery programs in coordination with Midwife in the clinic to ensure successful service delivery, and evaluate priorities to reach SALAMA’s objectives.
- Work in collaboration with the Midwife in the clinic and the Project Manager to ensure ongoing needs of all groups of the society are being met through prevention-related activities.
- Participate in the organization, the implementation and evaluation of the Campaigns.
- Implement and participate in training, conferences and meetings.
- Coordinate with other partners/stakeholders in Bekaa to avoid duplication and provide better SRHR services.
- Strengthen and maintain networks with community leaders, women leaders, service providers and camp management to ensure that the beneficiaries receive compassionate support from the community.
- Encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination with partners (protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors).
- Assist the Youth volunteers when needed in preparing/organizing their activities.
- Support upon necessity in administrative, financial and secretarial functions.
- Support when necessary in providing visibility material.
- Represent SALAMA in relevant events and meetings (GBV working groups and clusters meetings).
- Perform any other duties upon the request of the Executive Director.
Reporting - Prepare monthly, half yearly and Yearly reports, and any other requested progress reports, and ensure proper documentation of the achievements, success stories and case studies.
- Weekly update on Work Plan implementation to the Project Manager.
Qualifications and requirements:
- University degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or any related field;
- A minimum of 3 years of practical experience on social work with organizations or NGOs;
- High respect of and ability to work with people of diverse socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with challenging social problems and behaviors;
- Ability to work independently and as a team player;
- High level of flexibility in terms of time and mobility and availability to work for long hours and to travel;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong oral and written skills: Fluency in Arabic and English, French is a plus.
- Good computer skills: word-excel- power point.
- High work ethics and commitment to human rights and gender equality
- Commitment to and understanding of SALAMA’s mission, vision, values, policies and principles including rights-based approaches.
Contract terms: The contract is for the period from May 2021 to Dec 2023 (yearly renewable upon the wish of the parties involved). A three-month probation period will be applied.
