The RELIEF Centre is an academic collaboration between University College London, the American University of Beirut, and the Centre for Lebanese Studies at the Lebanese American University. It consists of four research strands, and a diverse team of researchers, all studying the concept of Prosperity and what it means in the age of mass displacement, in different localities in Lebanon.

Fast Forward 2030 (FF2030) Lebanon is a network for entrepreneurs who incorporate the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their business models, affiliated to the RELIEF Centre.

The RELIEF Centre and Fast Forward 2030 Lebanon are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic communications assistant to work alongside the RELIEF Centre Impact and Communications Officer supporting the communication and impact needs of the Centre and the network.

The role of the communications assistant will consist in the following:

Tasks:

  1. Maintain and develop the RELIEF/FF2030 Lebanon websites, in consultation with the RELIEF Centre Impact and Communications Officer, other RELIEF staff and RELIEF partners, assisting in the creation, upkeep and management of news and other content.
  2. Maintain and develop communications channels, such as social network sites Twitter, Facebook and YouTube and other digital media, including the website. This includes planning content, translating, proofreading and editing proposed posts/captions by the teams to appeal to social media crowds.
  3. Support the RELIEF Centre Impact and Communications Officer and other RELIEF Centre/FF2030 staff with the organisation of events such as cultural events, workshops, conferences, book launches, receptions, seminars, and public engagement events.
  4. Support the preparation and distribution of press releases and news items and liaising with the UCL Media Relations team.
  5. Write blogs, film scripts, and other text.

Requirements:

  • Experience of communications, publishing and/or marketing.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate and tailor content effectively for different formats and audiences.
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative and operate both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to speak and write Lebanese and Modern Standard Arabic.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a flexible approach and the ability to work within a team and with colleagues and external partners at all levels.
