ليس مصطلح العلمانية دلالة أحادية جامعة مانعة فهو مصطلح إجرائي وعملي لا يتمتع برؤية فكرية أو سياسية محددة مما يعطي للعلمانية معنى أوسع من مجرد معناها الشائع: “فصل الدين عن الدولة”. في هذا الكتيب يقودنا الباحث بين التعريفات المختلفة لمصطلح العلمانية ليرسم لنا أخيرا العلاقة بين المواطنة والعلمانية مؤكدا أن “العلمانية هي حجر الزاوية لبناء علاقات المواطنة وبناء المجتمع الحديث”.

The term ‘secularism’ is one of many connotations – it is neither neutral nor exhaustive; rather, it is a procedural and practical term without a set political or intellectual perspective, giving secularism a wider meaning than its most commonly touted meaning: ‘the separation between state and religion’. In this pamphlet, the researcher leads us through different definitions of the term secularism, the history of secularism, secular state, finally the relationship between citizenship and secularism, emphasizing that ‘secularism is the cornerstone in the building of citizenship relationships and building modern society’.
