The Social Stability Project Coordinator will undertake functions as mentioned below:

 

Project Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and flexible work plan ensuring social stability, inter-communal aspects, and conflict sensitivity are mainstreamed across activities and interventions with municipalities, governmental organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), Community Based Organizations (CBO), and program teams;
  • Support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to set frameworks and criteria for technical monitoring of all social stability projects;
  • Facilitate strategic planning to address social instability by local stakeholders;
  • Develop strategies for conflict mitigation, inter-communal, social cohesion, and stability programs and contribute to regional strategy development;
  • Support the Program Manager in designing, managing, and implementing research initiatives into root causes and effects of conflict;
  • Ensure that all activities/projects incorporate gender equity, conflict sensitivity, and environmental awareness emphasizing the Do No Harm Approach.

 

Management

  • Supervise and coordinate the implementation of Social stability projects and Community development related activities including livelihood, community support projects and conflict mitigation activities in his/her AoR
  • Train and mentor local government, civil society leaders, CBOs, and NGOs in negotiating and building social stability;
  • Support the Program Directorr on providing technical training and guidance to program team, including negotiation, conflict analysis, conflict sensitivity, community mobilization and multi-stakeholder dialogue.
  • Direct management of the project team members. This includes coaching, ensuring co-ordination between staff, recruiting, and staff capacity building;
  • Undertake regular field/onsite visits to ensure technical support to project staff and proper monitoring of the activities’ implementation in area of operation;
  • Provide regular updates on progress to supervisors and other team members and senior management
  • Ensure donor and agency compliance is met at all levels of project/program management cycle
  • Develop project progress reports according to agreed work plan. This includes contribution of the social stability sector in preparing donor report on time
  • Ensure lessons learned are documented, shared and reflected in program planning and decision making
  • Maintain good working relationships with donors, partner agencies, and other key stakeholders;
  • Represent the program in working groups as required by the Program Director.
  • Ensure that at all times contact with beneficiaries is conducted in a sensitive and respectful manner;
  • Create and execute a work plan, financial forecast and related systems to ensure that project deadlines are met and targets achieved
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Program Director.
