Fair Trade Towns International Conference
Under the high patronage of the Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs H.E. Nabil De Freij, Fair Trade Lebanon, in partnership with Mouvement Social, Baskinta Baytouna & Suburbs and the municipality of Baskinta, is honored to organize the 10th International Fair Trade Towns Conference on July 2nd at the College Saint Pierre in Baskinta. The event constitutes the outcome of the "Lebanese Fair Trade Towns" project implemented by Fair Trade Lebanon and Mouvement Social, financed by the European Union and supervised by the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform in the framework of AFKAR III.
The theme of the conference is 'Building Bridges through Fair Trade' and reflects how Fair Trade Towns in Lebanon and elsewhere have created social and economic links between different communities.
It will be the first Fair Trade Towns conference held in a producer country of the global South and is hoped to inspire and motivate budding Fair Trade Town movements across the Middle East and North Africa. About 30 foreigners from more than 17 countries are expected on this special day, where they will be able to discuss the structure of the Fair Trade Towns movement across the world.
Participants will be able to learn more about the Fair Trade movement in the world and how to be a part of it. It will also be the opportunity to meet the different activists attending the conference, and to measure the impact of Fair Trade within their communities.
