JIBAL reflects on their time at the Civil Society Incubator

At a time when civil society initiatives are under increased scrutiny and the space for civic action is becoming gradually limited, Lebanon Support works to counter these trends and foster a nurturing environment for initiatives where they can grow, collaborate with other actors, and use tools and resources to further their social goals. This is achieved through Lebanon Support’s 3 programmes, and notably the Civil Society Incubator.

Incubation at Lebanon Support is tailored to accommodate each individual partner’s needs. The Civil Society Incubator provides a range of services such as provision of office space, coaching and mentoring on technical issues, management, administrative matters, research, advocacy, networking, and web development among others.

As part of its Incubator programme, Lebanon Support hosted last year JIBAL, an expert association aimed at furthering environmental and social justice. After a year at the Incubator, JIBAL moved to its own office.

“JIBAL’s collaboration with the Civil Society Incubator was vital during its establishment phase. It provided us with a nurturing environment for our initiative to grow, and allowed us to network with other actors in the civil society sector.”

According to JIBAL’s founders, incubation at Lebanon Support was transformative for their organisation. Having access to a workspace and all its amenities (a meeting space, wifi, printers, etc), enabled them to focus on enhancing their core programs and strengthening their organizational structure. Furthermore, JIBAL was able to engage with the Lebanon Support team on a daily basis for direct support, and had access to the centre’s extensive network of civil society partners.

في وقت تتعرض فيه مبادرات المجتمع المدني للكثير من التدقيق وأصبح فيه فضاء المبادرات المدنية محدودًا بشكل تدريجي، يعمل مركز دعم لبنان على مواجهة هذه الاتجاهات من خلال توفير بيئة آمنة لنمو المبادرات، وتعزيز التعاون بين بعضها البعض، وإتاحة استخدام الأدوات والموارد التي من شأنها تحفيز أهدافهم الاجتماعية، وذلك عبر برامجها الثلاثة، وبالأخص برنامج حاضنة المجتمع المدني

إن برنامج الحاضنة في مركز دعم لبنان مصمم ليناسب احتياجات كل الشركاء على حدٍ سواء. كما يوفر البرنامج مجموعة واسعة من الخدمات منها: الحصول على مساحة للعمل، وتقديم التدريبات والإرشادات حول مسائل تقنية، إدارية، بحثية، وعن المناصرة، والتشبيك، والمعلوماتية من بين أمور أخرى

استضاف مركز دعم لبنان جمعية جبال في العام الماضي كجزء من برنامج حاضنة المجتمع المدني وهي جمعية تهدف إلى تعزيز العدالة البيئية والاجتماعية. وبعد مرور سنة على حضانتهم، انتقل فريق جمعية جبال إلى مكتبهم الخاص

كان تعاون جمعية جبال مع حاضنة المجتمع المدني خلال مرحلة التأسيس ضروريًا، حيث وفّر دعم لبنان بيئة آمنة لنمو مبادرتنا وأتاح لنا فرصة لإنشاء علاقات جديدة مع مختلف الفاعلين في المجتمع المدني

شكلت الحاضنة في مركز دعم لبنان عملية تحويل لجمعية جبال وفقًا لمؤسسيها، وذلك لأسباب عديدة تعود إلى قدرتهم في الاستفادة من خدمات كثيرة كالانترنت، الطباعة، وتوفر مساحة لتنظيم الاجتماعات والعمل. بالإضافة إلى التركيز على تحسين برامجهم الأساسية وتعزيز هيكلها التنظيمي، تمكنت جمعية جبال من التواصل بشكل يومي مع فريق مركز دعم لبنان، واكتساب شبكة من الشركاء والمعارف
