 JOB SUMMARY:
The News and Media Expert will conduct daily press roundups, in all social media, newspapers and news sources on the local and international front, focusing on the most important news that affect the NGO’s work and mission. The News and Media Expert will also be responsible for building a relationship with the local and international media, write press releases and conduct research on given subjects. He/She should also be prepared to handle the NGO’s accounts in the social media.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct daily press roundups for local and international news relevant to the NGO’s work and mission.
Build and maintain good communication with local and international media.
Conduct in-depth research on given subjects.
Write press releases.
Consult social media in a way that serves the NGO’s work and mission.
Review media requests and undertake a first appraisal/selection to assess their urgency and sensitivity;
Respond to routine media enquiries and submit urgent/sensitive requests to his/her hierarchy for decision;
Monitor, research, select, analyze and circulate news articles;
Review media coverage of NGO to produce studies/trends analysis, deliver analytics of NGO website/online/social media presence

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate can be current university student, or fresh graduate.
High proficiency in Arabic, English and French (written and spoken)
High proficiency in using the social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Excellent research capabilities.
Sufficient skill in typing to complete 60 words per minute accurately.
High knowledge of key news sources.
Willingness to learn and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
