Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and empathetic Male Community Facilitator to enhance community engagement and support gender equality initiatives. The facilitator will play a crucial role in fostering a supportive environment, facilitating community sessions, and connecting individuals with essential resources.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in community organizing or social services, with a track record of working with diverse populations.
- Skills: Excellent Arabic communication skills (verbal and written), strong organizational and conflict resolution skills, adaptability, and a commitment to social justice and community development.
- Additional Criteria: Must be an adult male resident in the community, committed to gender equality, and capable of handling sensitive disclosures.
Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement: Mobilize men to support women's rights and gender equality, build and maintain relationships with community members, and act as a liaison between the community and partner staff.
- Facilitation and Sessions: Organize and facilitate community sessions, resolve conflicts, and handle survivor disclosures with appropriate referrals.
- Networking and Documentation: Establish relationships with community officials and service providers, maintain accurate records of activities, and submit reports and plans as required.
- Training and Support: Attend and participate in trainings, mentorship sessions, and community meetings; support asset mapping and data collection activities.
Mentoring and Training Support:
- Training:
- Attend curriculum training
- Receive training on supporting disclosures, referral services, and gender-related laws if applicable.
- Regular Check-ins:
- Weekly in-person meetings with project managers for logistical support, methodology guidance, feedback, and accompaniment.
- Biweekly phone conversations to review checklists, discuss plans, and address community issues.
- Support Groups:
- Monthly peer support groups to share feedback, address challenges, and plan for upcoming activities.
- Annual Feedback and Recognition:
- Participate in annual dialogues to review experiences and receive appreciation; engagement in recognition activities throughout the year.
Commitment:
- Availability: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for community events and sessions.
- Skills: Ability to read, write, and use a mobile phone effectively. Creative, articulate, and passionate about community change.
Safeguarding Requirement:
- Integrate safeguarding principles and protocols into all project activities and interactions.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment that respects the rights and dignity of all individuals, particularly vulnerable populations.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns or incidents, following established protocols and procedures.
