Arabic Language Editor

The BLN program has been specifically designed for use with out of school children (ages 10-14) in Lebanon. The program has been tailored by War Child to be equally applicable to refugee contexts, and for Lebanese children who find themselves outside of the formal education system. The overarching goal of this program is to provide at risk children with basic proficiency in the fields of literacy and numeracy. The BLN program is aligned with Lebanon’s educational standards. Due to the programs alignment with the Lebanese national curriculum, successful completion of this program should prepare learners to continue their studies in Lebanon’s formal education system. The content of this BLN program covers materials equivalent to grades 1-3 in the Lebanese national curriculum.

قد تم تصميم برنامج أساسيات تعلم القراءة والكتابة خصيصا للاستخدام مع الأطفال خارج المدرسة (10-14 سنة) في لبنان. وقد تم تصميم هذا البرنامج من قبل أطفال الحرب ليتم تطبيقه بشكل متساو على سياقات اللاجئين، كما للأطفال اللبنانيين الذين يجدون أنفسهم خارج نظام التعليم الرسمي. ويتمثل الهدف الرئيسي لهذا البرنامج في تزويد الأطفال المعرضين للخطر بالكفاءة الأساسية في مجالي محو الأمية والحساب. ويتماشى هذا البرنامج مع المعايير التعليمية في لبنان. ونظرا لتوحيد البرامج مع المنهاج الوطني اللبناني، فإن الانتهاء بنجاح من هذا البرنامج يقود إلى إعداد المتعلمين لمواصلة دراستهم في نظام التعليم الرسمي في لبنان. محتوى هذا البرنامج يغطي مواد تعادل الصفوف 1-3 في المنهاج الوطني اللبناني.

Main Tasks:

• Prepare, rewrite and edit to improve readability and quality of language. This process is based on constant communication, feedback and approval from supervisor.
• Proofread to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
• Check that copyright content has been properly referenced.
• Review and approve proofs submitted by composing room prior to publication production.
• Review work based on comments and feedback from supervisor.

المهام الرئيسية:

• إعداد وإعادة كتابة وتحرير لتحسين القراءة وجودة اللغة. وتستند هذه العملية على التواصل المستمر، وردود الفعل والموافقة من المشرف.
• تدقيق للكشف وتصحيح الأخطاء في الإملاء وعلامات الترقيم وبناء الجملة.
• التحقق من الحقائق والتواريخ والإحصاءات، وذلك باستخدام المصادر المرجعية المعتمدة.
• تأكد من أن محتوى حقوق الطبع والنشر قد تمت الإشارة إليها بشكل لائق.
• مراجعة واعتماد البراهين المقدمة من قبل غرفة الإنشاء قبل النشر.
• مراجعة العمل على أساس التعليقات وردود الفعل من المشرف

Knowledge and Experience

• The editor should have previous experience in editing written text in Arabic.
• Specialized in Arabic and fluency in English is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in editing Arabic language.

الخبرة والمعرفة

• أن يكون للمدقق خبرة سابقة في تحرير نص مكتوب باللغة العربية.
• المتخصصة في اللغة العربية والطلاقة في اللغة الإنجليزية هو زائد.
• الحد الأدنى 5 سنوات من الخبرة في تحرير اللغة العربية.
