Clinical Dietitian, band E
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent, Is responsible to the Field Family Health Officer and through him/her to D/CFHP:
a) provides technical guidance to all medical officers on the prevention and control of Malnutrition among infants, children, Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW).
b) Provides specialist evidence-based dietary advice to patients with diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases while considering factors including nutritional status, medication, diabetes control and lifestyle.
c) Supports building the capacity of UNRWA health professionals (Nurses, Midwives and medical officers) to identify and manage malnutrition cases at the UNRWA health centers.
d) Develops user friendly educational material and messaging to raise awareness for the community to promote healthy eating habits and proper diet for PLW, infants and children for the healthy start of complementary feeding.
e) Reinforcement of existing activities (Child health care and Maternal health care programs) in close coordination with the head health center (HHC) and the Senior staff nurse (SSN) responsible for the activity to reduce high levels of anemia and manage malnutrition cases.
f) Introducing professional Nutritionist counselling services to guide the various activities on improving the malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies through one-to-one dietary counselling and follow up, small group interactive sessions (5-8 persons) rotating in the clinics of the five areas of UNRWA operations in Lebanon where assigned.
g) Coordinates open days for advocacy on healthy and nutritious eating habits in community outreach activities.
h) Participate in developing a Nutrition strategy regarding the management of Diabetes Mellitus, including creating guidelines, materials and tools to help diabetic patients as well as at risk patients of developing NCDs to improve their eating habits.
i) Assist in developing and implementing integrated actions to address obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCD) among health centers' beneficiaries and general nutritional guidance to community members at large.
j) to support research activities and so could follow up and collect data related to nutrition, that will support in surveys and research.
k) Supports the FFHO to coordinate health program engagement with external partners in relation to nutrition services, including the national nutrition cluster participation, MoH and reporting.
l) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
