Mission of the position: The Assistant Youth Leader is responsible for assisting the youth leader in his role and replace him whenever absent. In achieving this, the Assistant Youth Leader should be seen as a peer and a role model providing guidance, support and a positive example to the Youth. The Assistant Youth Leader reports to the Youth Leader and follows Youth Leader's directions in managing the Youth House.
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
- Acts as a Role Model for the Youth
- Guides the Personal Development of the Youth
- Provides Educational and Career Guidance for Youth
- Encourages Youth to take Responsibility for Themselves
- Child Safeguarding (CS)
- Responsible to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and to prevent and protect children/young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
- Ensures strong focus on CS prevention by organising informal and formal discussions, workshops and other capacity buildings activities for young people to make them understand CS risks and protection mechanisms
- Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CSA at the national level and/or to the National CS Committee.
- Protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA)
- Take appropriate actions to prevent and reduce the risk of SEA in areas of operation, including through awareness-raising, training, SEA risk assessments, child safeguarding and other measures;
- Take disciplinary action in response to proven misconduct, in line with relevant internal administrative policies and procedures.
- Take steps to identify and effectively mitigate against SEA in all programme activities
