Job description:
SMEX is recruiting a part-time editor (20 hours a week)  to help maintain the quality of its writing materials in English language.
As a part-time editor, you will be responsible for evaluating and editing SMEX online and offline publications, including web copy and blog posts, social media, newsletters, and reports, articles, and proposals.
Key responsibilities:

Work with SMEX team to draft and edit key SMEX content, as assigned, to ensure accuracy and consistency of style and terminology used in all public-facing documents published by SMEX (website, blog, newsletters, reports, proposals, project descriptions, etc.)
Develop and implement editorial processes and deadlines
Copy-editing proposals and reports written by SMEX
Developing a style guide for SMEX communications and content
Coaching SMEX team to improve their writing/journalism skills
Image editing, using open-licensed media
Posting content to the SMEX website

Qualifications:

Excellent writing skills in English
Bachelor’s degree in English literature, journalism, or a related field. Experience in international development, human rights, and/or technology is a plus
4 years’ of experience as a writer or editor in various environments.
Meticulous and analytical approach to writing and editing, with an ability to view reports, proposals, social media content, etc., from a broader perspective
Strong interest in the web as an open collaborative medium — blogs, podcasts, interactivity, content syndication, etc.
Demonstrated ability to write effectively for the web

Other requirements:

Good communication skills
Ability to work with Google docs, and other collaboration online tools
Organized, and work under pressure and tight deadlines
Live in Beirut, full time or part time
