RESPONSIBILITY
As a Part time member of SANABEL’s executive team, the Hospice Nurse is responsible for identifying patient/ family needs in addition to providing care according to the plan of care set with the Physician and the Supervising Nurse.
MINIMUM REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree/diploma in nursing, registered nurse with a valid license to practice in Lebanon.
- 3 to 5 years of overall work experience in a hospital, including 1 to 3 years practice, preferably, in an oncology department or with chronic diseases patients in either a general medical or surgical hospital-based setting.
- Preferably with knowledge, understanding, and experience of palliative/chronic diseases/oncology and delivery of holistic End of Life Care.
- Has a willingness to introduce change for the benefit of patient care, promotes and ensures high quality of care that meets national and international standards.
- Is calm and methodical in approach and demonstrates empathy with others, with very good communication skills. Open minded, nonjudgmental, respectful of others and their beliefs.
- Is a genuine team player, can influence, motivate and encourage others.
- Flexible, proactive, problem solver, trustworthy, and willing to accommodate to difficult and unexpected situations.
- Computer literacy, able to do research, write reports, and present findings.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Administrative tasks
- Perform evaluation of patients for eligibility for SANABEL NOUR services.
- Ensure proper documentation of planning, coordination and delivery of patient/family care.
- Report on all organizational, medical, nursing and technical care matters to Medical Director and the Supervising Nurse. Ensure proper medical records, documentation and revision of patient information, visits and ensure follow up on action points.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with registration regulations, legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in efforts to increase community awareness on end-of-life issues.
Executive tasks:
- Promote and ensure high-quality specific and general nursing care.
- Establish a safe patient environment by implementing infection prevention and control measures.
- Develop and review on regular basis a care plan and advanced directives with patients and their families on admission.
- Provide in-home nursing services to SANABEL patients in their homes and coordinate care with team and primary physicians of patients when needed.
- Assess the ability of family members to provide care for the patient, and facilitate agreement of family members regarding care plan.
- Obtain and analyze data on physical, psychological, social and spiritual factors that may influence patient/family health status and incorporate that data and its findings in care plan.
- Uphold the mission and goals of SANABEl.
- The position involves working three days per week, with an initial three-month probationary period. During this time, the employee will also receive training as part of the onboarding process.
- The employee might be required to work overtime, on weekends or public holidays in line with the needs of this project.
- The employee must be able to drive and use their own car.
