What is The A Project?

The A Project is a non-governmental organization that envisions a society where sexuality and mental health of cis and trans women, trans men, and gender non-conforming people are reclaimed, cared for, respected, recognized in their diversities, and not utilized against them.

We aim to create platforms that reaffirm agency and autonomy in sexuality and mental health, while advancing, through practice and theory, a political discourse around sexual, reproductive, and mental health and seeking alternatives to counteract medical patriarchy's restrictive and reductive approaches towards all bodies, especially those of cis and trans women, trans men, and gender non-conforming people in Lebanon.

Are you the Grants and MEAL Officer we are looking for?

The Grants and MEAL Officer is a full-time position, providing core technical and administrative leadership and sustainability in grants management. The position holder will participate in grants proposal writing, development, and reporting. They also plays a critical role in sustaining as well as monitoring and evaluating the progress and impact of The A Project’s programs throughout the year. This role is essential in the development and strengthening of an organizational MEAL strategy for all activities and operations, measuring effectiveness and guiding The A Project to meet its objectives and identify gaps. The Grants and MEAL Officer will also provide guidance and support to project coordinators on all matters related to accounts, budget preparation, grants management, contract and subcontract management, and compliance.

We are especially interested in someone who has the above-mentioned skills and experience, as well as an interest in working on gender justice and reproductive and sexual health rights. For the grant proposal writing segment of this job opportunity, the applicant should have strong writing skills and values work on advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights. Duties:

Objective 1: Funding and grants

  • Prepare funding proposals and complete reports to already-existing donors
  • Manage donor contracts as required, tracking the progress on outputs of contracts, providing timely updates and highlighting any issues
  • Identify potential donors and opportune calls for funding that align with the organization’s values, vision, and objectives
  • Stay informed about funding trends and priorities and grant opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of potential funders, deadlines, and application requirements.
  • Work with the leadership team to develop a strategic approach to grant seeking and fundraising
  • Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and networking events to stay connected with funders
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Oversee the entire grant application process, from submission to reporting, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records of grant applications, awards, and reporting.
  • Work closely with Accounting and Finance Manager to ensure accurate budgeting and financial reporting in grant applications.
  • Ensure payments made are allocated to budgeted spending

Objective 2: Monitoring Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL)

  • Design and implement a robust MEAL framework that aligns with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Develop and strengthen MEAL strategy for all activities and operations to measure the effectiveness of different programs in meeting our objectives and identifying possible gaps
  • Develop and implement data collection tools and methodologies and train team members on how to use them
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative reports of programs and activities highlighting quantitative and qualitative findings, providing insights into program effectiveness.
  • Present    MEAL    findings    to    internal    and    external    stakeholders, adapting communication style to different audiences.
     

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, NGO management or related fields. Those holding certificates or further studies in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning are encouraged to apply.
  • Fluent English speaker, with very strong written English
  • Fluent Arabic speaker
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Access and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team
  • Ability to coordinate with a large membership base for MEAL purposes
  • Demonstrated experience in grants management or program development
  • Demonstrated experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • A self-starter, able to organize and manage their own time
