Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Consultant

 

Project Title: Dealing with the Past - Reconciliation of the Memory of War

 

Position: Peacebuilding Training & Facilitation Consultant

Sector: Peacebuilding - Women Peace and Security

Funded by: UN Women

Location: Lebanon- 6 Locations to be determined

 

Level of effort:

  • 60 days per year – Total 120 days over 23 months

 

  1. Background:

 

The "Dealing with the Past and Reconciliation of the Memory of the Lebanese Civil War" project is a groundbreaking initiative led by women and funded by the United Nations Women (UNW) under the Women, Peace and Security agenda. This project acknowledges the crucial role that women play in promoting sustainable peace, acknowledging their unique perspectives and contributions in post-conflict settings

  1. Project Overview:

 

The project aims to address the complex legacy of the Lebanese Civil War, fostering a comprehensive understanding of historical events and promoting reconciliation among communities affected by the conflict. Through a gender-sensitive lens, the project seeks to empower women as key agents of change in the peacebuilding process.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities:

 

    1. Development of M&E Framework:

 

Work closely with the project team to develop a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework aligned with the project's objectives and outcomes.

Design Gender-Sensitive M&E tools, indicators, and data collection methods to systematically measure project progress and impact.

    1. Data Collection and Analysis:

 

Establish and implement a robust data collection plan, including baseline, mid-term, and end-line assessments.

Conduct regular data collection exercises, ensuring the quality, reliability, and relevance of the collected data.

Analyze and interpret data to assess the project's effectiveness, identify challenges, and recommend adjustments as necessary.

    1. Reporting and Documentation:

 

Prepare regular M&E reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key findings, achievements, and areas for improvement.

Ensure timely submission of accurate and comprehensive reports in line with donor and organizational requirements.

Maintain an organized database of project-related data, ensuring confidentiality and security.

    1. Capacity Building:

 

Provide training and capacity-building sessions to project staff and partners on M&E methodologies, tools, and best practices.

Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the project team and among stakeholders.

  1. Qualifications and Skills:

 

Advanced degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Peace and Conflict studies, Political Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Former Training in Monitoring and Evaluation is a must

Proven experience in designing and implementing M&E frameworks for humanitarian projects

Projects related to peacebuilding, reconciliation, or similar contexts is a plus.

Gender-Sensitive and Conflict-Sensitive

 

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software.

Excellent communication and bilingual (English & Arabic) report-writing skills.

Familiarity with international donor requirements for project reporting.

The M&E Consultant will report directly to the Project Manager.
