Orthopedagogue -Roving
Description:
Mouvement Social is looking for an orthopedagogue to support children with learning disabilities participating to the center activities (homework support and PSS animation). The aim is to ensure retention and support of children in schools and offer adequate intervention according to their learning needs. The main task of the orthopedagogue will be to give direct tutoring to children and guidance to educators, social workers, animators and parents to ensure progress and holistic approach. The orthopedagogue will be an important addition to our multidisciplinary team.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Orthopédagogue with the support of MS team, is required to:
- Observe learners in their environments to identify learning difficulties or potential challenges.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate learners’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Develop tailored action plans addressing identified needs.
- Design and implement targeted interventions, both individual and group-based.
- Coordinate with educators, social workers, and other stakeholders to align support strategies.
- Engage with parents or guardians to discuss learners’ progress and required interventions.
- Propose and implement teaching activities and adaptations to support diverse learning needs.
- Create and share tools to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Collaborate with therapists and staff to ensure consistency in intervention methods.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing adjustment of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Outputs and Deliverables
The Orthopedagogue is responsible for delivering thorough observation reports on learners, creating tailored action plans with regular progress updates for identified students, and maintaining detailed records of both individual and group interventions. Additionally, they provide educators with practical recommendations and customized teaching tools while ensuring stakeholders receive consistent progress reports.
Required qualifications:
- Master degree in Orthopedagogie or special education
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans(IEP).
- Knowledge of assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in NGO or relevant work experience in education & child protection field.
- Solid understanding of protection principles, survivor-centered care in humanitarian settings.
- Knowledge of Lebanese Institutions and policies, especially of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (regulations relevant to disabled, enrolment in school, etc.).
- Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure; ability to communicate, and adapt to work requirements;
- Experience working in inclusive settings and supporting learners with diverse needs.
- Understanding of child protection principles and safeguarding practices.
- Fluency in French, Arabic and English is essential for effective communication with students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- Ethical Conduct: The Orthopédagogue is expected to adhere to high ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
