Right to health in Lebanon - الحقّ في الصحّة في لبنان

The healthcare system in Lebanon is fragmented, exclusionary, and highly privatised.

Although there are multiple social protection schemes offering access to different healthcare benefits, some segments of the population, including unemployed, elderly, workers in the informal sector, migrants workers, and refugees have limited and unequal access to healthcare benefits and coverage. 

In a context of acute socio-economic crisis in the country, as well as the Covid19 pandemic, these structural and inherent challenges of the healthcare sector have been further exposed and have reiterated the importance of establishing a universal and inclusive healthcare system in Lebanon.

نظام الرعاية الصحية في لبنان مجزأ، باهظ الكلفة ومخصخص إلى حد كبير. رغم وجود العديد من برامج الحماية الإجتماعية التي تغطي كل منها تقدمة مختلفة في مجال الرعاية الصحية، إلا أن بعض شرائح السكان، بما في ذلك العاطلين عن العمل والكبار في السن والعاملين في القطار غير الرسمي والعمال المهاجرين واللاجئين، لا يزال وصولهم محدود وغير متساوٍ إلى خدمات الرعاية الصحية.

في سياق الأزمة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية الصعبة، ومع أزمة الصحّة العامة المرتبطة بالكوفيد١٩، كُشفَت التحديات الهيكلية والمتأصلة في قطاع الرعاية الصحية بشكلٍ أوضح، فضلاً عن تأكيد أهمية إنشاء نظام رعاية صحية شامل وللجميع في لبنان.
