DEADLINE EXTENSION: Lebanon Support social justice fellowship for 2021-22

The centre is pleased to announce the following fellowship opportunity for two early career researchers, young professionals, and artists working under the overarching thematic of social justice.

The fellowship programme will be over the duration of 6 months and will be open to early career researchers, young scholars and professionals (masters level, doctoral, or postdoctoral), interdisciplinary practitioners, media workers, and artists. It aims to develop research and explorations of the theme of social justice. This can encompass social sciences, data studies, visual studies and applications, among others. It will aim to provide young scholars and professionals (masters level, doctoral, or postdoctoral) with the opportunity to develop their work on topics related to social justice and social rights in Lebanon. 

The work produced by the fellow will be published by Lebanon Support. The fellow will also be invited to participate in webinars and talks in order to share and discuss their findings.  While the fellowship is situated within the social sciences, it encourages interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies, also exploring linkages between academic, action-oriented research, and the arts. The fellowship is open to interdisciplinary and artistic research and explorations of social justice in Lebanon.

Terms of the Fellowship

The fellowship provides up to 9,000 USD as stipend for the 6 months fellowship. Accepted applicants are expected to provide a financial plan before signing the contract.

Each fellow will be requested to publish their production/work with Lebanon Support. 

Timeline

  • October 18 2021: Deadline for submissions.
  • Week of 25 October 2021: Decisions are communicated to applicants.
  • 15 November 2021: Expected start of the fellowship.
  • Spring 2022: Presentation/publication of the work produced.

This fellowship is in partnership with UNICEF, Lebanon.

Application Guidelines and Required Documents

Applicants are required to submit a proposal (5 pages) and portofolio for interdisciplinary practitioners and artists, building on their research and/or their previous work, and showcasing their credentials.

The application must include the following:

  • A detailed CV.
  • A one-page cover letter.
  • A project proposal*
  • A portfolio, if applicable
