The Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) is looking for an experienced and highly qualified programme coordinator. The position holder will report to the AutRC country representative and be based in the AutRC Office in Beirut, with frequent travelling to Damascus, Syria. She/he will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and reporting of programmes in Lebanon and Syria, in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). The programme coordinator will closely coordinate with LRC and SARC as well as other Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and external partners, focusing on developing and maintaining partnerships inside and outside the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement.

Essential Responsibilities and Responsibilities

  • Follow up on the implementation of AutRC supported projects in Lebanon and Syria, particularly in the areas of cash and voucher assistance, blood transfusion services, and national society development (NSD) / capacity strengthening projects.
  • Maintain effective and efficient oversight, support and quality control of AutRC supported projects
  • Provide support to LRC & SARC, particularly in the areas of NSD and if needed PMEAL
  • Support the country representative in the management and development of new project proposals
  • Coordinate with other team members and the technical teams (mainly WASH, Economic Security and Blood Transfusion Services) to support activities
  • Coordinate reporting tasks on the assigned activities, ensuring quality standards and timely delivery.
  • In coordination with the AutRC regional finance officer, ensure effective use of funds and compliance with donor regulations and local legislation
  • Facilitate and support in organizing planning meetings, workshops, trainings, HQ and project visits when required.
  • Ensure that gender, protection, the environment, and other important cross-cutting concerns are considered in program design, implementation, and reporting. Ensure that activities reflect the needs of specific groups and individuals, e.g. elderly people, children, and people with disabilities, as set per project agreement.

 

Operational/Technical Roles and Responsibilities

Duties applicable to all staff:

  • Abide and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Principles, as well as the Red Cross Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by line manager.
  • Perform tasks independently and take responsibility for the assigned.

 

Function Specific Skills

  • Solid experience in project development and implementation, capacity building and management with local partners
  • Coordination, communication and planning skills, experience in donor reporting, accountability, and compliance
  • Previous experience as an LRC/SARC staff member or volunteer is an asset
  • Experience in designing and delivering trainings is a plus
  • Fluent English and Arabic
