The Lebanese Observatory for Workers & Employees Rights (LWRO) is a Lebanese independent non-profit organization.

LWRO believes in social justice and seek legal protection for all without discrimination. We are committed to principles supported by the international conventions, declarations, and agreements on human rights and gender justice, particularly, the International Convention for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, in addition to recommendations set by the International Labor Organization-ILO as a benchmark for practice and vision.

LWRO seeks to achieve its mission and strategic goal that aims at protecting the rights of all workers and employees in Lebanon, by developing gender-sensitive and human rights-based social protection systems and legal frameworks.

Our theory of change works at different pillars guided by the five interrelated principles of social justice: access, equity, participation, gender equality and human rights. Our interventions cover the following: Empowering workers in Lebanon through labor rights literacy and awareness raising; Advocating for inclusive and non-discriminatory labor law, legislation and social protection policies based on gender equality and decent work; Advocating for the democratization of trade union movement.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in developing and implementing communications strategies to raise awareness of the NGO's mission, programs, and achievements.
  2. Draft and edit communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, social media posts, and website content.
  3. Collaborate with program staff to gather stories, photos, and updates for communication purposes and donor reports.
  4. Create engaging content for various communication channels including websites, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
  5. Manage the organization's social media presence, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, ensuring regular and relevant updates.
  6. Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure media coverage and raise the organization's profile.
  7. Monitor media coverage and public opinion related to the organization and its areas of work, and develop strategies to address any misconceptions or negative publicity.
  8. Coordinate the production of multimedia materials such as videos, photographs, and infographics to support communication efforts.
  9. Support fundraising activities by creating compelling communication materials for donor outreach and engagement.
  10. Provide communication support to different departments within the organization, ensuring consistency and accuracy in messaging.
  11. Organize and coordinate events such as press conferences, workshops, and public awareness campaigns.
  12. Collaborate with internal teams, including program department, to ensure alignment and integration of communication efforts with organizational objectives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience (at least 3-5 years) working in communication roles, preferably within the non-profit sector or NGOs.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  4. Strong understanding of digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management, website content management systems, and email marketing software.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement communication strategies that drive engagement and support organizational objectives.
  6. Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  8. Commitment to the mission and values of the organization, with a passion for social justice and humanitarian issues.
