JRS has zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment and takes seriously all concerns and complaints about SEAH by JRS personnel.
The Inclusion Officer is responsible for promoting disability inclusion into JRS programs. Their role consists of supporting schools/education centres and community centre staff in identifying people with disabilities, and in designing and implementing innovative strategies that aim at strengthening their participation in various activities while fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment.
Main Responsibilities of the Position:
1. Quality of the Programmes:
Education
- Supports the education teams in identifying students with disabilities at the different stages of the education programme, including registration and enrolment.
- Offers insights for enhancing curriculum design and teaching methods to cater to diverse learners, including those with disabilities.
- Develops, revises, and oversees educational materials and training resources as required.
- Supports tutors in developing and executing lesson plans, assessments, and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Conducts classroom observations to provide actionable feedback.
- Ensures accessibility of school/classroom materials for all students, including those with disabilities.
- Collaborates with the Country Inclusion Officer to assess the effectiveness of the inclusive education interventions.
- Reports on program outcomes, and helps in developing and improving program activities to meet community needs.
Livelihood
- Reaches out to PWD in the community to ensure their inclusion in the livelihood program and provide relevant support for their skills development and employment opportunities.
- Creates support groups for PWD in the community centre where tailored activities are conducted to address their needs, and to listen to their voice, provide feedback, and suggest improvements to the program.
- Monitors and follows up on accommodations and modifications implemented by trainers in the livelihood program, ensuring that they meet the needs of beneficiaries with disabilities.
- Follows up with beneficiaries with disabilities’ requiring individual support and, when needed, referring them to other NGOs for additional assistance.
- Reports on program outcomes, and helps in developing and improving program activities to meet community needs.
2. Internal & External Coordination
- Collaborates closely with the education and livelihood teams, and the Country Inclusion Officer to provide technical and operational support.
- Works with the tutors and other education team members to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
- Regularly meets with education officers, community centre coordinators, and when needed, with social workers and project psychologists.
- Supports the project teams in mapping local stakeholders and coordinating with them for external referrals of beneficiaries with disabilities.
3. Capacity Building & Awareness-Raising
- Identifies training needs and facilitates professional development interventions in education and livelihood through training and mentoring.
- Conducts inclusion-related awareness sessions and social events for beneficiaries in collaboration with the education officer, livelihood officer and the Country Inclusion Officer.
Qualifications , Skills , and Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in special education. Teaching Diploma is an asset.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience and 2 years of program management or coordination experience.
- Excellent knowledge of formal and non-formal education programs in Lebanon.
- Strong understanding of livelihood needs for people with disabilities, including knowledge of inclusive livelihood programs that promote economic independence and social integration.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English; proficiency in French is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel). Good knowledge of Kobo is an asset.
- Skilled in report writing.
- Willingness to travel to field locations (Bar Elias and Baalbek)
