Job Overview/Summary: The Consultant MHPSS Supervisor will supervise the team’s use of WHO’sGroup Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-G) for depression model, ensuring safe provision of services that meet national technical standards, through a combination of supervisory tools including phone and in-person contact, site visits and provision of structured feedback.
Major Responsibilities: Major responsibilities of the Consultant MHPSS Supervisor are listed below:
Maintain weekly contact with each individual member of the Men’s Support Project team (four persons) in order to monitor their implementation of IPT-G, and support them to respond to challenges and novel situations in accordance with the purpose and objectives of the IPT intervention model.
Accompany each team member (four persons) for delivery of at least three IPT sessions in the field, taking note of strengths and areas for future development in order to provide structured and constructive written feedback to team members following the session.
Monitor team members’ identification of individuals in need of referral to clinical care, ensuring that thresholds for referral are clearly defined and consistently applied.
Provide ongoing coaching/individual supervision to team members (four persons) in order to support their capacity to implement IPT safely and effectively, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
Provide group supervision of team members on a bi-weekly basis.
Provide brief fortnightly updates to the Snr Protection Coordinator regarding the technical progress of the team, including identified additional training/capacity building needs.
Review tools and standard implementation methodologies.
Key Working Relationships:
Position Reports to: Senior Protection Coordinator
Position directly supervises: Technical supervision of all Men’s Support Project team members (four persons) for the implementation of IPT activities.
Other Internal and/or external contacts: MHPSS TA
Job Requirements:
Education:
The qualified candidate must have a degree in psychology, mental health counseling or social work, and have completed a group IPT training course.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in MHPSS.
Familiarity with the Group Interpersonal Therapy (IPT-G) model, completion of IPT training and at least two years experience implementing IPT with groups is required.
Previous experience training MHPSS staff on IPT and supervising implementation of IPT is strongly preferred.
Experience supporting male survivors of sexual violence, torture and LGBTI persons is desirable.
Knowledge of and experience in using established inter-agency standards and guidelines in MHPSS, such as the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings.

Language Skills:
Ability to communicate and write clearly in English is desirable.
Working Environment: The Consultant MHPSS supervisor will not have dedicated office space at IRC, but will have access to IRC premises for the purpose of meeting with relevant supervisees. The position requires some supervision delivered at field sites during the implementation of activities: all field sites are in the Beirut/Mount Lebanon area.
