This report was presented at the International Labour Conference, 99th Session, 2010. It was intended to facilitate the discussion of domestic work at the Conference and consists of ten chapters, each of which covers issues pertaining to the topic of domestic work. The chapters include 1) The specificity of domestic work in the contemporary global economy; 2) International law and domestic workers; 3) The definition of domestic work and its inclusion in legislation; 4) Working conditions; 5) Law and practice in respect of social protection; 6) Combating forced labour in migrant domestic work; 7) Enforcement of labour laws and access to justice; 8) The collective organization of domestic workers; 9) The ILO and other international initiatives; and 10) Towards international standards on decent work for domestic workers.
