The Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) in Beirut is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan academic institution unaffiliated with any political organization or government. It was established in Beirut in 1963 and is exclusively devoted to documentation, research, analysis and publication on Palestinian affairs and the Arab-Israeli conflict. IPS is seeking a Technical Assistant for a six-month period, in the framework of a pedagogically oriented, bilingual (English-Arabic) interactive web-based project that covers Palestine history from the mid-18th century to the present, and that includes: a detailed chronology; original texts written specifically for the project (on major events, social and cultural topics; personalities…); and historical documents (texts, photos, maps, charts, video…).

Reporting to:
The Technical Assistant will be under the direct supervision of the project‘s Assistant Editor.
 
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience.
 
Hours:
Full time: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm; Monday to Friday.
 
Location:
The Technical Assistant will be based at IPS office in Beirut, but will have to communicate with project team members located in other countries (Palestine, USA, and France).
 
Qualifications and skills:
- B.A. / B.Sc. degree
- Perfect written command of Arabic and English
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Some familiarity with database management systems would be an asset
- Thoroughness and rigorousness
 
Key responsibilities:
- Formatting and structuring text documents according to a set of precise specifications;
- Uploading various types of data (including texts, numerical data, photos, etc.) onto a Content Management System;
- Creating links/hyperlinks between different content types in the Content Management System;
- Coordination and administrative follow-up with external contributors to the project: sending timely reminders, drafting contracts, facilitating payment.
