IndyACT is an independent league of environmental and social activists that was established in 2007 in Beirut, Lebanon, to support leading activists and promote activism. In the past eight years, IndyACT has become the leading advocacy organization in the Arab region that has been able to change international and national policy. Among its achievements is influencing the climate change position of the Arab League, introduce language into the international climate change negotiations, play a key role in passing a strong tobacco control legislation, incubate several new civil society initiatives that have become independent organization, and many others.
 
IndyACT has now presence and registered in Lebanon, Jordan, and Austria. Its current active national and international campaigns are climate change, zero waste, marine and coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, tobacco control, sustainable transport, toxics control, green public spaces. The organization has also active programs on youth empowerment, public participation in decision making, strengthening CSO advocacy, and incubating new civil society initiatives. The organization’s motto is “Passion with Professionalism” and applies it in all of its campaigns.
 
IndyACT is currently seeking a junior Finance & Administrative officer.
 
Key job responsibilities are:
Accounting and management
Responsible for executing day-to-day financial operations, in a timely and quality manner: including, but not limited to, paper accounting (vouchers, supporting documentation), electronic data entry and monthly closing process
Ensure that adequate financial management routines and systems are in place and that IndyACT’s accounting practices and standards are adhered to; as well as that the requirements from donors, auditors and authorities are fulfilled, especially in relation to purchasing, authentication, payment procedures
Manage and ensure timely payments: payroll for IndyACT staff, consultants, vendors, in accordance  with IndyACT’s financial procedures and contract policies. 
Perform monthly reconciliations of all IndyACT balance accounts, to ensure accuracy
Following up with relevant ministries with regards to taxes, NSSF and other governmental requirements 
 
Financial Reporting
Ensure relevant, timely and accurate financial reports (both internal to management and external to donors), and alerting of any deviations from the budgets as per donor guidelines
Manage the finance activities and schedules to meet the financial reporting deadlines 
Support the external auditor to ensure timely audit report statements. 
Assist in the preparation of budget proposals
 
Office Administration
General administrative support 
Assist with project related administrative work as required
  Education requirements
University degree in accounting or finance  
Skills/Qualifications 
Strong financial and administrative background
At least 2 years of similar experience in finance and accounting, preferably in a non-profit organisation
English and Arabic proficiency is a must
Computer skills including MS Office and accounting software (knowledge of Dolphin is a plus)
Ability to work in multitasked teams and complex projects 
Able to take initiative and work independently
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure.
 
Working Hours
