WORKING CONTEXT

WeWorld-GVC has been working in Lebanon since 2006 and is now supporting vulnerable populations through emergency WASH, shelter, basic assistance interventions as well as Water Governance and Local Economic Development programs aiming at increasing the resilience of the concerned communities, in the Bekaa Valley and Akkar. Within the framework of an OCHA-funded Food Security project targeting host communities of Jabal Akroum, Joubeh and Wadi Khaled, WeWorld-GVC seeks to recruit a Community Engagement WORKER.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Field activities

  • Conduct field assessments and data collection activities, ensuring reliability of the collected information, and guaranteeing a dignifying and equitable relationship with the interviewees;
  • Conduct field distributions to the designated beneficiaries and ensure accurate documentation of the activities through reporting, collection of handovers, etc.;
  • Conduct awareness sessions with stakeholders and beneficiaries, providing any information relevant to the project;
  • Liaise regularly with community leaders and beneficiaries to collect information, facilitate the coordination, and to mitigate / solve disputes whenever needed;

Coordination and Reporting

  • Cooperate and coordinate with other WW-GVC personnel and departments;
  • Maintain good working relations with beneficiaries, contractors, and all stakeholder involved in the project;
  • Report to the line manager any issues which may have a direct impact on the implementation of the project, on the beneficiaries’ safety, or on WW-GVC’s activities in the area;
  • Represent WW-GVC appropriately at all times to the community, to other NGOs and institutional partners;
  • Ensure maximum visibility of WW-GVC’s actions amongst the beneficiary communities;
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports of the conducted activities and ensure that all the project documentation (attendance sheets, distribution lists, MOU, etc.) is properly filled, updated and classified;
  • Any other task not here listed and necessary to the project and the mission
  • In case of emergencies, and based on prior coordination with the line manager, ensure availability during weekends and public holidays, in respect with the Lebanese Labor Law.

REQUIREMENTS

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3-year experience with international NGOs or equivalent in humanitarian assistance programs;
  • Familiarity with ODK tools, Protection principles and Distribution standard procedures;
  • Previous experience in Akkar, or rural areas in Lebanon.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, staff management and leadership skills;
  • Good communication skills with beneficiaries and communities;
  • Flexibility, commitment and ability to work in stressful circumstances;
  • Capacity to work autonomously respecting deadlines;
  • Integrity in line with the NGO values and ethical standards;
  • Cultural, gender, religion, and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Languages: Arabic (Native speaker) and English (fluent written and spoken)

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Other: Valid driving licence and capacity of autonomous deployment
