Reporting directly to the Project Manager, with the overall responsibility to the Head of DCAF’s Lebanon Office, the Junior Project Officer (JPO) assumes responsibility for supporting principally finance management, reporting and of the effective internal control systems of the project with other administrative duties as per the needs. With regards to the finance aspects of the JPO work she/he will work directly under the guidance of the Finance Officer.

The JPO will assist in the following tasks (but are not limited to):  

  • Budget preparations for donor and internally for DCAF
  • Forecast of expenses for the office and the projects
  • Monitoring of budget spending for the office
  • Provide inputs to proposals for budget planning/management/revisions including reallocations
  • Preparation of internal monthly financial reports with justificative documents
  • Preparation of intermediate and final financial reports for donors
  • Monitor of cash positions in the bank & petit cash and processing of cash advances with Geneva Headquarters
  • Monitor implementation of financial obligations by recording, checking and reporting expenses
  • Record of transactions while ensuring they are managed in compliance with the internal and external financial policies and procedures (dependent on the donor)
  • Provide secretariat support in organising, compiling, and processing financial documentation and information, preparation of reports/financial documents/archiving
  • Provide support to processing payments
  • Support project managers and consultants in handling financial tasks during the events and assignments, assure distribution of per diem/allowances/collecting documents etc.
  • As per the needs provide support to logistical, administrative arrangements for the organization of meetings, trainings, workshops, events, and missions
  • Draft minutes during the meetings
  • Filing and archiving
  • Perform ad hoc requests from the Head of Office and Geneva Headquarters

Minimum requirements

  • University Degree in finance, business, management, or another related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in one or more of the areas: finance, budget management, accounting
  • Experience in using finance management softwares
  • Experience working with not-for profit sector a strong asset
  • Experience in project management, procurement and logistics will be an asset
  • Native Arabic speaker, excellent command of English (written and spoken)
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in an international team
  • Cultural sensitivity
