Description: 

FHF is currently implementing a project aiming at improving the operations of the Bourj Hammoud
gardens and public spaces, operated by the Municipality of Bourj Hammoud. The operations include
basic maintenance, and implementation of social cohesion activities, to enhance the community's well
being, alleviating tension among vulnerable communities and marginalized groups, and increasing
their resilience while ensuring active grassroot initiatives for a sustainable intervention. The project is
implemented by FHF in partnership with UNOPS and is funded by the German government through
KfW Development Bank.

Within this project, FHF is seeking to recruit a Consultant Field Officer, based in Beirut.

Scope of Work
The Field Officer will be primarily responsible of the following activities:
- Conduct comprehensive mapping activities to identify key stakeholders, community leaders,
and potential beneficiaries within the target areas.
- Assess the current state of the garden and develop a comprehensive rehabilitation plan,
including soil improvement, water management, irrigation system, plant selection, landscape
design, and sustainable gardening practices.
- Identify all necessary materials, tools, and consumables required for the garden, and assist in
the procurement process by specifying required specifications, and recommended suppliers.
- Oversee the installation of the procured material, ensuring proper functionality and integration
with existing systems, when applicable.
- Maintain an inventory of essential spare parts and tools, ensuring availability when needed.
- Identify and select appropriate plant species suited to the local climate and soil conditions,
develop a planting schedule and oversee the planting process, ensuring proper techniques are
used for optimal growth and garden aesthetics.

-Provide hands-on guidance and support during practical gardening activities, fostering a
learning environment that encourages active participation.
- Coordinate and manage the logistics of on-ground activities, including workshops,
community meetings, and other outreach events.
- Work closely with the project coordinator to ensure that all activities are conducted efficiently
and align with project objectives.
- Conduct assessments to identify and verify eligible beneficiaries for the project.
- Develop and maintain a database of beneficiaries, ensuring that information is accurate,
up-to-date, and confidential.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between beneficiaries and the project team, ensuring
clear and effective communication, addressing concerns, and gathering feedback.
- Provide support in raising awareness about the project’s goals, activities, and benefits among
community members.
- Mobilize community members to participate in project activities, ensuring active and
inclusive participation.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on outreach activities, including successes, challenges,
and recommendations for improvement.
- Identify potential risks or challenges in outreach activities and propose solutions to address
them promptly.
- Ensure accurate and secure management of all data collected during outreach activities,
including beneficiary information, stakeholder contacts, and event documentation.
- Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and networking events to represent the project and
build partnerships.

Essential Minimum Qualifications
- University degree in Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Community
development, or related fields.
- Proven work experience in humanitarian positions with similar scope of work.
- Expertise in horticulture, landscape design, or garden rehabilitation, with a strong focus
on sustainable practices.
- Excellent communication and management skills.
- Knowledge and exposure to the social and cultural values of the region.
- Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English languages.
