Project Description

The YALA project is managed by Fiftyfifty and supported by MALALA Fund. YALA aims at encouraging young dynamic individuals all over Lebanon to become effective citizens and be part of the solutions to achieve positive change and build their involvement in local governance. The project will empower the youths to become leaders making a meaningful contribution to the welfare of their communities through the following main activities:

  • Empowering 120 young girls and boys between the ages of 16 and 20.
  • Strengthening the capacity of the youth
  • Spreading awareness regarding the importance of girl’s education and equal opportunities
  • Create a community of young well-informed individuals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a well-structured power point pertinent to the topic
  • Develop training material for youth aging between 16 – 21 years old
  • Train the participants on the methods and concepts of the topic
  • Develop a pre-training questionnaire, to assess the participant’s knowledge of the topic
  • Engage new interactive post-training methods in assessing the participants’ understanding of the topic
  • Write a report by the end of the program, summarizing the outcomes of the training sessions and discussing the results of the pre- and post-training assessments.
  • Present training sessions that are engaging and interactive to help participants retain information
  • Explaining Elements of the international law, and examining ways in which each of these elements can reinforce/ challenge gender inequality
  • Provision of a brief background on CEDAW and the binding nature of the state’s obligation and the judicial application under CEDAW as well as other international laws and conventions within this context.
  • Assessment of how law can be transformed into an agent of reform.

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Law, Social Sciences, International Affairs, or any relevant field of study
  • 5 years’ experience in conducting conflict assessments and conflict analysis.
  • Relevant training experience or professional experience in Gender issues and Legal Discrimination against Women and Girls
  • Extensive knowledge in Law and Gender issues
  • Proven experience in preparing and delivering trainings in Gender and Legal Discrimination against Women and Girls
  • Proven ability to manage dialogue in an intercultural setting and of sensitive material
  • Proven high communication skills in a clear, precise, and structured way
  • Proven high efficiency in developing an interactive, engaging, and creative presentations, including PowerPoint presentation

  • Ability to work flexible schedule to support delivery
