DRI is looking for an Anti-Corruption Expert to deliver one full-day training on Lebanon’s 2020 National Anti-Corruption Strategy for 25 political activists..

Background

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. It has been established in Lebanon since 2016. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.

In the framework of its Lebanon project “A bottom-up reform agenda for Lebanon: Supporting youth, women, and civil society actors to expand civic space”, DRI conducted a mapping of the emerging civil society groups to understand their political agenda, the challenges they face, their capacity to engage citizens in the political process, and their potential need for support. Based on this mapping, the surveyed civil society actors highlighted the need for technical assistance.

Therefore, DRI developed a comprehensive capacity support programme for emerging civil society groups to build institutional capacities and individual competencies that enable them to develop a political agenda, build networks, and communicate their ideas. The target group will include around 25 participants from emerging civil society/change groups. The Anti-Corruption Expert will help the emerging groups better understand the strategy that Lebanese authorities have developed in line with 2030 Global Agenda for Sustainable Development. S/he should ensure that participants are informed on corruption concepts in Lebanon, how to enhance accountability and transparency, how to end impunity and report on corrupted conducts, Lebanon’s commitment to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), etc. The expert should ensure that the emerging groups will be able to revise practices or procedures to reduce the risk of corrupt conduct occurring and promote integrity and transparency.
