Project Name: Lebanon Agricultural Rural Empowerment Activity

Consultancy Title: Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant

Reporting to: Communications and Outreach Manager

Ceiling LOE: up to 70 days

Period of performance: 12 months from contract start date

 

Project Background

The Lebanon Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) activity, funded by USAID and implemented by Chemonics International, supports Lebanese rural and peri-urban communities to obtain technical and financial resources in order to facilitate increased productivity, sales, and exports, improved business income, while also ensuring livelihood sustainability. To support this purpose, ARE will increase jobs; improve incomes; improve female participation and employment opportunities; increase domestic and export sales; increase private sector investment; improve access to finance; link value chain actors to domestic and international markets; and improve production through improved practices, technology, increased volume, and/or decreased cost. ARE supports two key expected results:

1. Increased domestic and export sales at both firm and farm levels.

2. Livelihoods improved, especially in rural areas and for women.

 

Summary of Position

The Lebanon Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) program is undertaking a Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant. The Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant will support ARE’s Communications team in implementing ARE’s strategic communications plan to ensure that the project is raising awareness about ARE’s outcomes and results with target audiences. The Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant will illustrate concepts by designing brochures, leaflets, info graphics, and other required materials while coordinating with ARE’s Communications Manager. The Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant will also provide targeted support to ARE’s partners in their communication and marketing campaigns.

 

Deliverables and Timeline

1. Design factsheets, booklets, banners, posters, press kits and other materials in accordance with USAID’s visibility guidelines.

2. Design of communications materials for several purposes (social media, internal use, fairs, exhibitions, events…).

3. Create original information graphics using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

4. Support in organizing events as needed.

5. Other deliverables as assigned by the Communications Manager or designee.

 

Place of Assignment

The Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant can work remotely, however is welcome to work from ARE’s program office space in Beirut and will be expected to travel to areas of operation throughout the country as needed.

Reporting

The Graphic Designer/Communications Support Consultant will report directly to the ARE Communications and Outreach Manager

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a similar role in the private sector or with other international organizations.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, inDesign, MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic required

 

Ineligible Consultants:

Government employees: any person paid by the Lebanese Government, occupying an established position, either temporary or permanent, part-time or full-time, within a Lebanese Government institution.
