Description:

The overall objective of the post is to reinforce security technical and managerial capacity in the Berghof Foundation office, in addition to assessing BF´s current gaps in security management and suggest an adapted action plan for the next 6-to-12 months.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To serve as the main focal point in the management of security incidents and emergency procedures if need arises, keeping BF´s staff diligently informed.
  • To validate and monitor BF staff work-related movements.
  • To guide, assist and work together with BF´s management on the production of a comprehensive security documentation and procedures package as per best-practice standards. To develop ex novo security risk assessments, contingency plans (including relocation and emergency evacuation), security plans, SOPs, incident reporting templates/procedures and other relevant tools adapted to Berghof´s operations in the current Lebanese context.
  • To build and maintain an efficient information network, constantly monitoring the security environment, in close coordination with other security focal points at the country level to ensure a smooth flow of relevant security information. To ensure that relevant security information potentially impacting BF´s staff/activities is quickly and efficiently disseminated through internal communication channels and that contingency plans and SOPs are updated as needed.
  • To brief BF´s management and staff on the security context as requested, providing inputs at relevant meetings and keeping the management informed on the security context developments through written reports, presentations or discussions.
  • To conduct site security assessments on Berghof´s office in Beirut, on venues currently used as project delivery sites and on hotels used for national staff and visitors, as well as on potential new venues as need arises, including assessments of the broader areas. Suggest improvements on the passive/physical security measures of the current facilities as needed.
  • To help developing the capacity of BF´s non-dedicated security staff on security analysis and basic security management in order to improve BF´s duty of care towards its staff as well as BF´s service delivery to clients on a durable and sustainable manner.
  • To train BF staff on personal safety measures and to carry out regular drills to ensure adequate dissemination of procedures among them.
  • To participate to an exercise of scenario planning and actor´s mapping identifying likely scenarios of the crisis, indicators to them and appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to the business continuity plan for BF Lebanon and for each project based on the different scenarios outlined.
  • To brief short-term visitors on the security contexts and safety regulations.
  • To do other security-related tasks as requested.
