Trainer in Participatory Planning Methods

The consultant will be responsible for designing, facilitating and conducting: 

Participatory Planning Workshop (1 day) for 25 Municipalities:

This workshop aims to foster collaboration and inclusivity among stakeholders from 25 municipalities, facilitating a comprehensive planning process. By the end of the workshop, each municipality will have a strategic plan that reflects the collective vision and aspirations of its committee members, laying the groundwork for sustainable development initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed workshop agendas and training materials in collaboration with the senior project manager.
• Facilitate interactive and participatory workshops that promote knowledge exchange and skill development among participants.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to participants during group activities and discussions.
• Adapt workshop content and delivery methods as necessary to meet the specific needs of participants and ensure effective learning outcomes.
• Coordinate with the project team to organize logistical arrangements for workshop venues, materials, and equipment.
• Prepare comprehensive workshop reports summarizing key discussions, outcomes, and recommendations.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in designing and facilitating workshops and training sessions on topics related to participatory planning, dialogue, and community engagement. 
• Strong knowledge of participatory methodologies and tools for community engagement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of participants.
• Excellent understanding of the Lebanese context 
• A degree of openness and flexibility to receiving feedback from the project team
• Background in relevant field such as peace and conflict studies, political science, international relations or similar ( a Master’s Degree or its equivalent is a plus)
• More than 5 years of relevant work experience 
• Experience working in municipal development projects, local governance, peacebuilding, or related fields is preferred.
• Fluency in Arabic is essential, English is preferred.

Deliverables:

• Methodology and training materials for the Participatory Planning workshop;
• Facilitation of the 25 different workshops;
• Reports summarizing key discussions, outcomes, and recommendations for each workshop.
